“TOP SPOT!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 21, 2013

Want to be near Circular Quay? Look no further....this is your hotel! The location can't be beat. You literally walk out the door and BAM! The Bridge and Opera House are steps away.

We came to Sydney for New Years Eve and decided to stay here for a few reasons:
1. Obviously the accessibility to the Harbour
2. The price was good
3. Minimum night stay was 3 nights for that period where as other hotels required us to stay longer.
4. Room allowed 4 people to occupy the room

We were more than happy with our recently updated twin room - it was very spacious for our family of 4, and the 2 queen beds were wonderfully comfortable.

Room was very clean and the bathroom amenities were sufficient - we asked for extra towels and bathrobes and they were brought up to the room promptly. View was breathtaking!

We took advantage of the breakfast buffet every morning which was a lovely way to start the day. There were plenty of choices - very impressive and delicious!

The staff of this hotel are phenomenal! All were eager to please, smiles on their faces and would go the extra mile for us - fabulous service!

Honestly, I wouldn't bother looking anywhere else, this is where you would want to stay - we loved it at the Marriott and when we do return to this amazing city we will definitely be staying here again! Why wouldn't you?

This is a marvelous hotel - excellent rooms, service, friendly and helpful staff, location - you ca't go wrong here!

We stayed here a few days before our Cruise to New Zealand, and it was perfect. You can walk in any direction and find exactly what you are looking for - restaurants, shops, ferries, even the cruise ship terminal. In fact, we had booked a car, and the bell hops told us not to do that, but to put 1 person in a taxi with all the luggage and for the rest of us to walk to the ship - $15 total, instead of $30 for two taxi's. It's literally a 3 minute walk from the hotel to the ship.

There is a great place for breakfast just outside the hotel- they have the most amazing fruit bowl.

Will definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: Any room here is great!

This was my fourth stay of around 10 days each time in the last five years - this time 13 nights. Reception are always helpful and without hesitation gave me a late check out time of 1pm. I do think it is worth paying extra for an Opera House facing room - those that end xx24 or xx25 probably have the better views. Apart from the Opera House you get a great view of the ferries at circular quay and the scene out to sea past Mrs McQuaries Point etc.

When I checked into my room 2425. there was a complimentary bottle of red wine - a nice touch. A good sized recently refurbed room with two tables, a nice wall mounted flat screen television with Fox sports channels - the main downside was the lack of drawer space. I do like to have an early room make up and it was somehting of a considerable challenge to arrange it until Lale very helpfully managed it. On some days you get discount cards attached to your door knob, offering 20% off breakfast or 20% off drinks at the nearby Custom House bar.

Breakfasts are expensive at $38 if not in your tariff - ok but not special. When I checked in they did offer me a breakfast price of $25 per day for the stay and on reflection i should have taken it. However there are numerous cafes nearby - I can recommend Le Quays, right opposite the hotel - lovely crispy bacon and great cappuccinos and there is City Extra on circular quay where your outside table is about 20 yards from the Manly ferry.

On Sunday evenings, the hotel has a steak evening for $29 including a glass of wine - good value. If you want somehthng less formal try the Custom House bar at the back of the hotel - open weekdays - good food but it can very noisy and busy - good local atmosphere.

Lift availability is usually good although on on some floors the light and bell aren't always working so you have to be something of a Usain Bolt to catch them! There are three computers in the Business Centre next to reception - $5 for 30 minutes for internet access.

In my opinion, the best thing about the hotel is its fantastic location - arguably the best in Sydney. Circular Quay with the ferries, railway station and some shops, including Mr Liquor are about 150 metres away, the Opera house is 7/8 minutes, the historic rocks area about the same and the harbour bridge say 15 minutes.

In summary, this is good hotel with great views from the 'opera house' rooms and its brilliant position is about unbeatable for easy access to all the considerable attractions in this part of Sydney. Not a perfect hotel but a nice and comfortable place to stay.

Room Tip: The supplement for an opera house view room is worth it although the Opera House is not right in fro...

The must haves in a vacation hotel:
- proximity to public transportation
- clean and quiet rooms
- coffee nearby (you have to have your "flat white" each morning!)
- a HELPFUL concierge, especially Allan Alvarez
- major attractions within walking distance

This hotel ticked every box with nice bonuses like a phenomenal gym, ability to use Marriott Rewards points, newly renovated rooms, an early arrival lounge, and restaurants and shops within walking distance. I'd recommend it to any traveller.

Good location if you want to be near the harbour and it's activities. It's about 15 mins to walk up to the main shopping in Sydney. Checkin was a little slow so they upgraded me to a higher room with a view of the bridge which was great. Room was fine for a business trip. There was no bath which is a shame as it's a nice luxury at the end of the day. Room was expensive compared to others that I have stayed at in Sydney. I stayed here as I had a conference at this hotel. Breakfast was standard hotel buffet. Overall nothing outstanding about this hotel but everything was perfectly acceptable - food, accommodation and friendly service. I picked up a stomach bug on the second night (not due to the hotel food) and they allowed me a midday checkout which was great.

The best located hotel. Clean, friendly knowledgeable staff with a great buffet breakfast, offering everything you could want.
We had a great room, we didn't require a view of the harbour, as we weren't planning to spend the weekend in the room.
I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it.

This Marriott is in a great location - near the Opera House, Ferry Station, The Rocks District, and Royal Botanic Gardens. The property is quite nice (more like a JW Marriott than a standard one). Friendly and helpful staff, plus an outstanding executive lounge for gold/platinum members including free wine/beer/cocktails and nice breakfast/evening snack options. The rooms are updated and offer great views of the city or harbor. The fitness room was also well done.
