Great hotel in the heart of the CBD near good shopping in the QVB building. Friendly and professional reception staff. Could not fault anything in this hotel, clean and excellent housekeeping staff. Nothing was a problem and an early check in was no issue.

The Sydney Hilton has arguably the best location - directly opposite the Queen Victoria Building and a one minute walk from the Pitt St Mall - great for shopping, theatre, transport (Town Hall station).

The rooms are smallish, though bed is comfortable and bathroom well designed (although small too). A huge plus are the automatic blinds which allow for complete darkness - wonderful for sleeping. I had room service for breakfast which was delivered on time and with cold milk for my cereal - so perfect. Wifi is extra.......(Note: This hotel is outrageously expensive - and if you are on a budget, I'd suggest going to other 5 Star hotels that are half the price, eg, Shangri La at Circular Quay and Four Seasons. As a Hilton Honors member I had hoped they'd prefer to have me stay again vs going to another hotel but they won't budge on the $450+ per night mid week vs $250+ on a Sunday night).

The highlight for my trip was watching the Chinese New Year parade directly from my hotel room window - with great views down George St.

Tips for the hotel: (1) The shower cap is the smallest shower cap I've experienced in a long time - perhaps designed by someone without hair (as it barely fits your head - and my shoulder length hair couldn't fit inside it). (2) Accessibility to the gym is poor - as the lift doesn't go down even when the gym is open - you have to walk outside the hotel. (3) Not enough staff at reception/checkout - with two occasions where I had to ask the concierge as there was no-one on reception.

Location. Location. Location.
The Hilton is located right downtown, a few minutes from the bar scene and a slightly longer walk to Sydney Harbour, with its iconic Harbour Bridge.
For-the-most-part the staff were extremely friendly, and the maitre d' in the lobby was very helpful, with useful suggestions and great directions to nearby attractions.
The breakfast is fabulous, but when it's over, it's over; don't be late!
If you are a seafood fan, you'll enjoy the Executive Lounge which offers a wide variety of local catches.

I travelled here for a quick overnight business trip in March 2013.

I was greeted at check in by a very courteous staff member who had just dealt with a difficult and demanding customer. Nevertheless she welcomed me with a smile and a friendly demeanour.

As a Hilton Honours member I was upgraded to a pretty spectacular room on the 32nd floor. The room was clean, spacious and thoughtfully appointed. It took me a while to figure the shower out (there were so many nozzles...)

The Executive Lounge on the 46th floor was available, but quite crowded.

A colleague asked the front desk for good dinner options outside the hotel, but was given some pretty mediocre options.

Don't expect much for breakfast in the Executive Lounge the next morning. Cereal, toast and make your own coffee. There are some hard boiled eggs as well. Next time I'd go down to the buffet.

Overall a very good experience and the best appointed hotel I've stayed at for some time.

Room Tip: The higher the better.

We stayed one night before our cruise that started in Sydney. The hotel is located in the middle of Sydney CBD, across the street from Queen Victoria shopping complex. We arrived in the morning, after a long flight. We were not allowed to check in until noon. However, we managed to eat a great breakfast in the hotel restaurant (I think it is called "Glass") in the meantime. Great location. Great service. Great room. Also, even though we never took it, the hotel is close to the monorail station.

I am stayed here for a week while on a business trip. The location is perfect and the room is modern but a little "cold". I think I prefer more cosy places but then again I am not spending too much time in the room. As mentioned by another reviewer, the Internet costs are crazy but I suppose given that I am not and most people here are not picking up the bill, the get away with it. Overall it's great if you want a reliable place to stay while working, but I suspect you 'd get nicer places in more scenic locations.

Great location, walkable to most of central Sydney including Circular Quay, Hyde Park, central business district, even Chinatown. Great friendly service, the room was comfortable with a nice sofa, but I thought they almost tried to be too modern, and they failed in a few areas. The smallish bathroom is awkward to use. Sink is too high, no towel hanger. To get a towel from the rack, you need to be over six feet tall, or you'll have to grab a chair. Toilet paper holder is mounted the wrong way, so every time you use it, you have to use two hands, or it will fall off. It literally takes five minutes to close the electronic curtains. You have to press AND CONTINUE HOLDING the button. Then another five minutes to open them.

The worst thing was the t.v. No channel listing on paper. You could only see the channels listed at the time you turned on the t.v. In order to view it, you had to turn off the t.v., then turn it on again. And there were no descriptions, only the call letters of the channel station, so it was worthless. Then, it takes about ten seconds to change between each channel. No channel number appears on the screen, so you can't quickly go back to a channel. And There remote has no ability to go directly to a channel: you must either go up or down. So it literally takes 5 minutes to scan through the channels to see what's on.

The restaurant was crowded, so I had room service which was excellent, but very expensive. The $29 daily internet fee is high, so I suggest going a block up to the Woolworth's internet cafe, where it's $5 for 1.5 hours, you can use over six months.

Many convenience stores nearby, shops, shopping malls, etc. Two McDonald's nearby, and a KFC, but almost no moderatly priced restaurants nearby. Only very expensive places across the street in the QVB (Queen Victoria Building).

The hotel has an airport shuttle bus, which is easy and frequent.

Views from most of the rooms appear to be blocked by other buildings, but it's very central, so that's the price you pay for that.

I still liked the hotel, just a few minor annoyances.
