Had to leave Cairns due to cyclone Ita and booked this hotel from the Cairns airport last minute because our other Sydney hotel was full at the time. We arrive in Sydney and the room was ready for us and it was well equipped and very clean. The staff was helpful, we asked for directions about a million times and they were always willing to help us out.
The hotel was in a great spot for us for the 3 extra days in Sydney. Just 5 minutes walk to Darling Harbbour where you'll find shopping, dinning, entertainment and more. It is in the Chinatown district so there are plenty of Asian food place all around. The train is about a 10 minute walk form the hotel and there are buses that run all around the hotel. Paddy's market is at the end of the block so you can buy all the gifts you want and be 1 block from your room to drop your good off.
We also booked the room with breakfast included as we did in Cairns and it is really the only way to go. Breakfast is $25.00 if not booked via the room and some where around $15 if included in the room. IHG members get free wi-fi, so join before you book.

Room Tip: Book the room with breakfast included and join IHG before booking for free wi fi.

This hotel is situated very well- on the border of Darling Harbour and China Town. The rooms are clean and comfortable- beds are really comfortable, with good pillows. The rooms are also quite (despite the hotel being quite full when we stayed). I also liked that there was a small kitchen sink and bench in the room- and an empty bar fridge- really convenient for families. The reception staff were friendly and helpful- we were allowed to change the configuration of our room a little with no extra charge- despite that the reception always seems to be very busy. We would definitely stay here again next time we visit Sydney.

We needed a quick two night stay at the end of our Australian trip. We chose this site for the location and the location did not disappoint. After reading reviews and after staying at a Holiday Inn in the states recently, I was expecting much more. The room was bare and outdated and seemed more like a hostile-type room. It was clean and the staff was friendly, but overall I expected something nicer. The wifi offered in the lobby did not always work, so it was easier to walk across the street and use McDonald's free wifi.

A very basic and tired 3 star hotel and if it wasn't for the location, it hasn't much else good to offer. If you decide to stay here, make sure you get a room in the more recently build part of the Hotel.

We live in Sydney but needed to go to a family wedding in the city so decided to stay near the reception at Darling Harbour. The Holiday Inn was in a very good location being only a 10 min walk to Darling Harbour and only a few blocks from the city center as well. The hotel is a bit dated in appearance but the rooms quite spacious and clean. The room had a mini frige (left empty so you could fill it with what you wanted) and the staff were all very friendly. The pros to this hotel is the location. IDEAL. The cons--has to be their seafood buffet. Far overpriced for what is offered. It was fresh and the seafood selection was OK but the sides of salads (only 3 on offer), vegies and other meat dishes was very minimal and often the dishes were empty and refilling was very slow. They didn't offer a cracker to use on the crab legs nor a pick to get the meat out. When I asked I was brought a cracker but still no pick and it was very difficult to get meat of the tiny crab legs. They had a beautiful loaf of French bread but no knife to cut it with so we just broke off a piece. Later when we went back for 2nds we found there still was no knife.

This hotel is perfectly located opposite the convention centre and only a small bit away from a mono rail stop.
The hotel was spotless and has a small nice bar of a night cap.
You are only a short cab or mono rail ride into Sydney.
