Holiday Inn Darling Harbour
Ranked #87 of 181 Hotels in Sydney
Reviewed January 29, 2013

We decided to go to Sydney for the night, got a good deal on the internet, and we were upgraded on arrival!
This hotel was in a great location if you want to see Sydney Entertainment Centre, Paddy's Markets, Chinatown, Darling Harbour, George Street, Capitol Theatre, QVB... All were in easy walking distance from the hotel. The room was a little small, but not uncomfortable, it was very clean, the shower worked great, the staff were very pleasant and helpful. Would definately stay there again...

Despite the name of the hotel, it is actually situated in the heart of Chinatown rather than Darling Harbour, which is a 10 minute walk away.
Room was a reasonable size, but there was only seating for one and the room and bathroom felt a bit shabby. The room was surprisingly quiet though, despite facing the main road and Entertainment Centre.
Breakfast at over £20 a head is rediculous, although the selection was good.
Staff were polite and the concierge was helpful.
An OK hotel, but there is much better to be found in the City.

Located right next to the Sydney Entertainment Centre and Chinatown, and a ten minute walk to Central Station, so very handy. Not on Darling Harbour itself but only 5 mins from there

Good size room with good bathroom (shower no bath) and small kitchen area (fridge kettle sink etc)

For the price paid and the location id happily stay here again

I stayed overnight. Despite being opposite the Entertainment Centre it was not at all noisy. I slept well. Location is excellent for Darling Harbour (obviously!) and the George Street entertainment precinct. getting down to circular quay/ the rocks/ opera house is no problem - aside from waiting for the free bus (555) in peak hour haha.

The room I was in was large with 2 double beds and comfortable. The ensuite facilities are becoming a little dated but everything was there in working order. The down side was no view, in fact an ugly view of a brick wall and concrete path. Not that I expected a view, but at least to look out a window to buildings or blue sky. I was on the 3rd floor and expect there are better outlooks higher up.

All the staff I had contact with were friendly and said hello. I had a bit of a wait when checking in, mainly because the people ahead of me had lots of questions/changes - but there was only one receptionist at the time (about 1 pm). Breakfast is fairly standard. Not cheap, but then again Sydney is an expensive place to visit.

Room Tip: Maybe ask for a room with an outlook. There are options for parking. Valet parking at the hotel is...

Located close to China Town, the Conference Centre and Darling Harbour. Room and breakfast were fine, no issues. Friendly staff on reception. Just a short 5 minute walk to the main street with lots of buses to the Opera House and downtown. Number 55, free bus is excellent. The monorail is a bit of a tourist gimmick, not really useful for getting around the whole city.
