This hotel is located inside the shell of a historic building, although the interior is strictly modern, the decor being about 30 years old. For Sydney it is a mid range hotel with an excellent location opposite the Sydney Entertainment Center, and at the edge of Chinatown and Paddy's Markets. Both Central Station and Darling Harbour are a 10 minute walk away. I stayed there with my daughter, initially they gave us a room with a double bed, not sure whose fault that was but they gave us another room with 2 singles very promptly. Staff were pleasant and the place seems to be well run.
The Sydney Monorail actually runs across the front of the building but due to double glazing there was no noise at all, and the airconditioning is efficient. As our room had a locked door leading to the next room it looks as though rooms can be made interconnecting for families. Room service was good quality food at a reasonable price.
The rooms are not overly large or luxurious, and well in need of renovation, plus the awful 1980's bathroom had a mold problem on the tiles. There was a notice up saying that for the convenience of guests the minibar had been got emptied out but but could be restocked on request, which annoyed me, as I don't really like drinking Sydney tap water at 2am. Beds were comfortable and there is a choice of soft and firm pillows.
For the price this is good quality accomodation and I would certainly stay here again.
