The food is completely fun and luxurious. Exotic ingredients, playful combinations and a comfortably casual vibe. We expected it to be Japanese food, and instead had so many global influences. Several dishes had Caribbean flavors treated with expertise and finesse. The service was genuine, very friendly, attentive with a causal warmth. The yabby-lobster was so good that I crave it. I can't rave enough about the food.

Although an interesting tasting experience it was definitely not Asian fusion. We had a few exceptional dishes, a few intriguing combinations and several dishes that just didn't work e.g. the black pudding and cassava dumplings. The use of the Indigenous ingredients was interesting and gave us several new taste sensations. The wine list was overpriced and overly complicated. We had a group of four, and so had a table but I feel the experience may have been better at the bar watching the chefs.

This is just a simply fantastic experience - menu is unknown when you arrive - you can only have the tasting menu - 14 courses and you wouldn't have it any other way - every course is explained as it is served by fabulous staff - chefs that engage and not hide - it has care and theatre.

The absolute MUST DO is to have the matching wines, really I should say beverages - took the "limited" option - blew me away - sake with the first course and along the way a northern french cider - if we had done the norm and just ordered a bottle of wine we would have SO missed out on the absolute treat of what we were served - who orders a northern France apple cider with dinner.

On the side I suggested the sommelier just bring something you like - SUERTES DEL MARQUES VIDONIA - from the Canary Islands - never would have ordered that either - fantastic wine.

So - food BRILLIANT - matching wines BRILLIANT - service and all the little bits BRILLIANT

Therefore the complete rating equals COMPLETELY BRILLIANT.

I can't remember how many courses there were, maybe around 10 or so but they were delicious! You don't get to see the menu until at the end but each dish came with an explanation as to what it was and if there was a special significance to it re the head chef.
My favorite would have been the fish with rice, the bay leaf "tea", the pork and the desserts.
Their cocktails were delicious as well, A Drift was my favorite. The staff were also very helpful

If you have some money and don't mind spending it on really good Auzzie food then I definitely recommend coming here. Check their website for dinning options because on the weekend they only do chef tasting but it's so worth it. The food is a modern take on Aust. cuisine using locally grown Aust. ingredients. Out of this world good!
