Having been let down by our hotel restaurant which was full, despite having been told it was un-neccessary to book, my husband and I went for a wander around Darling Harbour following drinks and canapes elsewhere, to find somewhere to eat at 8.45pm on Sat 20th April. We liked the look of the menu at Cyren and despite misgivings about the huge size of the place , opted to give it a go. We were not disappointed.
Bright modern interior. Friendly service, excellent menu with fair prices for Sydney and the location, good sized portions of fresh, tasty, well cooked and nicely presented food. Perfectly cooked, tender, juicy, rare/ medium rare, Kangaroo steak served on creamy mashed potato and a fresh Caesar salad with chicken, were delivered very quickly, along with a side of nicely cooked 'al dente' beans. A great wine waitress and reasonably priced wine list with some good 'By the glass" options. A delightful English waiter took our food order which arrived quickly and was delicious. On paying the bill we told the duty manager how much we had enjoyed both the food and the friendly service and he commented that it was lovely to get this feedback, as they all work hard to keep things up to scratch. Busy restaurant, but high ceilings inside, so not too noisy and tables well spaced. Some lovely outdoor tables overlooking Darling Harbour, so would also be great for a picturesque lunch on a sunny day. Interestingly enough we saw a couple of large tables of 10+ being served and all the food arrived together, and everyine looked happy with their choices, so they are clearly good at catering for groups. We will certainly go back on our next visit to Sydney and will happily recommend this place to friends.
