This is another one of those dark hotels where you cant find things if you drop them and need to look carefully on check out. Dark doesn't do it for me. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. I was pleased to be able to open a window for fresh air. The sink areas have no space to set out your toiletries owing to a poor design. Also I could not find a way to turn on a light in the bathroom area without turning on the main room lights. It was handy to have a direct USB charging outlet in the wall. The lobby features eclectic music some of which surprised me such as "Kelly Watch The Stars". But the scented lobby air made me sneeze and smelled a bit like pot. Direct access to the casino shopping areas was nice and there are many restaurants. Just across the street in one direction is a supermarket (Coles) and in the other direction are several nice little restaurants. The harbor is about a 5 minute walk and the convention center is about 8 minutes, so overall this is a well-situated hotel. Internet is too expensive. Note that everything for sale in the room is wired to sensors so for example, if you pick up the lovemaking kit to read the label (it's funny!) you will be promptly billed. Watch your account!

Room Tip: Do not get a hotel facing the pool, at pool level or you will have no privacy.

We found The Darling great. Loved all the technology in the room and the staff were healpful and friendly. Room service breakfast was amazing. Would stay there again for sure. Great when you can get roulette to pay for the accommodation too :-).

Had a one night stay here a jewel suite with a view partial harbour bridge, darling harbour, We checked in very quickly so easy and professional, the room did not dissapoint us in anyway whatsoever. The staff we found to be efficent ,helpful, pleasant people who looked like they were happy to be there doing their jobs. Everything the staff said they would do was done and in the time frame they said. We had a wonderful one night stay here, other than sheer curiosity to check out a couple of other hotels in Sydney, The Darling is just to good to go past for overnight stays in sydney, we also found it to be very good value at 26.00 valet parking ,also excellent dining optins at every budget level. We will go back again and would highly recommend The Darling.

Room Tip: all rooms a perfect, but me personal choice harbourside nicer to look out at.

My partner and i stayed at the Darling for a week in June.
Pros: The room was nice and the bed was very comfortable! Love the decor, i plan to *borrow* the room colour scheme for my house. I loved being able to control the room from a remote. Room service pizza tastes really good and is worth the price. The scent in the lobby was amazing and good service... I didn't want to leave!
Cons: I wouldn't say the value of the other room service food was as good, expensive, large plate and very small portions....stick with the pizza. No gym in hotel which is unfortunate, you have to walk to the other Star hotel and use the one there.

Overall great room, service, location and scent in lobby! :) Best hotel in Sydney by far.

Room Tip: Higher floors and rooms closer to the harbourside mall so you can't hear the music from Marquee...

Recently had our second stay at The Darling and once again were very impressed. Our arrival was handled well by the reception staff and the concierge are very welcoming. The rooms are tastefully decorated as you would expect from a new 5 star Hotel the rooms have all the mod cons and the beds are 1st class!
The location of The Darling is perfect and I would definately recommend the Hotel to anyone visiting Sydney.

With reference to a previous comment about the unsatisfactory arrangement for breakfast at The Darling, I agree wholeheartedly. It is very strange having to walk the distance to Bistro 80. Confusion on both occasions as to whether ours was a "continental" or "full", despite paying for the latter, confirmed by hotel reception to us, but deemed incorrect by Bistro 80. The continental was really basic, compared to hotels we've stayed worldwide, very disappointing. Surely yoghurt qualifies for this type of breakfast? Certainly did not justify $34 per person!
ps..... we were entitled to a full breakfast , despite being told otherwise by Bistro 80. Two breakfasts for two ... $136. Really?!
