After reading the reviews if this restaurant we went there with pretty high expectations. Unfortunately the restaurant just didn't deliver!

Although we had made a reservation our table wasn't ready when we arrived (despite there being a number of empty tables).

We reviewed menu and made our choices, but unfortunately the best thing we ordered was wine!!!

The dishes we selected were the Vegetarian Dumplings; the Salt & Pepper Snapper, and the Crispy Skin Chicken.

The Snapper was bland and dry and really lacked any flavour, and whilst the Chicken had plenty of flavour it was very oily and greasy.
The Dumplings were ok.

Maybe we just went on a bad night, or maybe this restaurant just isn't for us!!!

Just came from Sugarcane. Had a great meal - poached chicken salad, carmelized pork hocks, stir fried greens, rice with a black sticky rice and mango desert. We ate everything. Most dishes say they contain chili - nothing was too spicy. Only complaint would be that the restaurant is very noisy. 91AUD.

Interestingly there isn't much choice and that means that every dish is cooked to perfection. The dinner menu is only on 2 pages and the Manager/Waiter is on hand to help recommend dishes. Service is excellent and the timing of the food again spot on. You must try the Crispy Squid and the prawn on rice cakes (outstanding, I could have eaten 6).
There's an open kitchen so you can see the chefs in action. I'm trying to find fault and I can't. I'll go again on this short trip to Sydney.

Came as part of a progressive dinner. Food was absolutely delicious (crispy chicken, lamb rack and salt and pepper squid are all perfectly cooked) and the waiter was friendly, polite and accommodating. A perfect dining experience - can't wait to go back to try the other food on the menu!

We've now been 3 times to Sugarcane and we will go again. The fresh clean lines of the restaurant are very inviting, the maitre d' is the best, helpful, friendly and efficient. The food is quite simply wonderful.
Only one tiny drawback. If you oldies like us don't go on a Saturday night when it's very full and very noisy.
