Had a gorgeous night with great service, exquisite food and terrific sommelier. Loved my cauliflower tofu with scallops. Highly recommend.

“Innovative, Fun, Uber cool”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 10, 2013

Everything about this place is awesome. Cheese breadsticks, flavour concentrated mushroom consomme, curious black butter and delicious crispy scaled jewfish. Every dish is an inspired piece. The best part is the service. Restaurant manager Kristin went the extra mile to give attentive but non-intrusive interludes. We were impressed when we got home that evening and she had emailed us the list of matching wines we were so impressed with.

“A theme park for the eyes and tastebuds”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 5, 2013

Beetroot granita, liquid buttenut gnocchi, and edible fish scales...if those words piqued your curiosity, then go to Gastro Park and you will have a great time. The playful theme extends to the austerely decorated dining room, like somewhat otherwoldly. The quality of the food is taken seriously, though, with different textures and flavours, often in one dish. I think the $140 7-course degustation offers good value, and I was really full by the end of it.

A few dishes could be improved with more subtlety, like the soy and mustard glaze on the swordfish, and the calamari crackling that accompanied the crispy-scaled jewfish. Both were too salty for my taste, and the calamari crackling felt redundant beside the superior crispy scales. The chocolate/honeycomb/mandarin sphere was stunning in presentation, but I would prefer it to be less sweet. For me, the highlight of the menu was the roast veal sweetbreads (I paid an extra $15 supplement for it), which probably looked the simplest, but had an amazingly silky-smooth texture, and very well-balanced flavours.

Service was efficient and attentive, even if sometimes the description of the dishes were spoken too quickly. The place was fully packed when we dined there (it was Saturday night), but our glasses of water were always duly replenished. The possibility to dine a la carte makes it easier for people to come here more often, if that sense of food adventure gets hold of them again.

“Extraordinary food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 20, 2013

Unfortunately a very quiet dinner with only one other table of two in attendance, so ambience was nil. Service was polished & very helpful. Food is creative, but like the original Nouvelle Cuisine ("where is the food?" syndrome) I felt the meals were not generous for the price. My two dining companions loved the food, but they are women who don't eat much anyway. I did struggle to find menu choices that appealed to a male with a healthy appetite, although I would still recommend Gastro Park as an adventurous dining choice.

“Creative and innovative dining”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 29, 2013

One of the more creative restaurants around but has a few other issues of service and timing.
Presentation is beautiful, looks enticing but portions are quite small. A few problems with timing and the meal took longer than it should have.
An excellent wine list, we enjoyed a wonderful tempranillo at superb value.
Finished with a wonderful soufflé made the way a true soufflé should be.
Relatively expensive - you are paying for presentation and quality rather than quantity.
