Love the taro balls and the piping hot grass jelly which is especially lovely in a cold autumn day.

This humble dessert establishment once caught our eye in the corner of Chinatown when we saw a huge line outside.

Curiosity got the best of us and the Taiwanese desserts were of great quality. There is transparency as to what is added on your meal because of a large window where the hungry could view the staff make the dessert and because of its clean and casual atmosphere, it could be a great place where your friends would gather after a great day of studying or gyming.

SERVICE: The service is average with a fast food type of approach whereby customers line up and choose their desserts from a mainboard with a DVD (playing repeatedly) illustrating how each of the ingredients are made within a clean facility.

No special attention is given.

FOOD: There is a large selection of Teas and Desserts on offer with most very repetitious base ingredients with a few variable condiments in between to complete each dish. There are food ‘specials’ occasionally happening depending on the season.

The dessert here definitely do have that ‘fresh’ feeling when it hits your palette. The milk and ice combination plus the natural sweet texture of the Taro, Beans or Grass Jelly do blend in well to provide that calm refreshing taste.

Go with their “Herbal Signature Dessert”; whilst common, you can’t go wrong especially if it is your first time.

VALUE: Desserts are below $6 and a Dessert + Tea combination can equate to $12 depending on the sizes of course. With a loyalty programme in place, this is great value for money

ATMOSPHERE: It is a casual atmosphere with most of the locals and tourists gathering to try out of their desserts. They have a dining area spanning two floors with an outside dining area.

The long queues (mostly of young people) outside this dessert restaurant say it all; the taro balls are the cornerstone of this extensive dessert menus. There are hot and cold options; the latter contain crushed ice and not too heavy.
A must for the sweet-tooths amongst you!
