Just under the coke sign and a really clean, good value accommodation option. 1 min walk from the KINGS CROSS train station. Head to Cafe Buvette, just down McClay street for breakfast plate, delicious or a 5 min walk to Elizabeth Bay for delicious avocado and parmesan mash at TWO ANTS cafe! This accommodation has a deal with a parking space nearby: only $20 overnight...convenient...BUT, my suggestion...DON"T drive in Sydney CBD: waste of time, walk or transport!
Only one little thing, could hear the people moving around next door...may not represent all rooms... Great value!

Room Tip: Choose a deal, rooms are great!

Clean, well managed, with a very helpful and friendly staff. The rooms are small but very nicely appointed, and the price is what had me make the reservation here. Came straight to the hotel after I flew in from Canada, so I was just looking for a place to crash and recover from the jet lag,. I also wanted to stay in an area connected to transportation and services but didn't know Sydney at all. On weekends, this hotel is surrounded by screaming (drunk) people until about 6AM, and the rooms are not sound insulated from outside noises. Even with earplugs, didn't block out the noise. On the second night, fire alarm went off (false alarm) in the middle of the night. I would recommend this place if you are a heavy sleeper, but not if you are looking forward to a quiet place to get some rest and re-set your internal clock. But it is a good price and well located for trains. Only about an easy 30 minute walk through the CBD to Circular Quay if you want to get to the ferries. Great coffee at the little shop tucked right into the ground floor of the hotel!

My husband and I picked this hotel for the start and tail-end of our Australian trip. It was the best Sydney could offer for the price we were looking at and the kind of stay we wanted - not expensive but not cheap; not luxury but not budget.

First night we were upgraded to a King Deluxe, a bigger room which comes with a sofa. The bathroom was a bit on the small side (although not as small as their Compact Double room) and the shower strangely rectangular shaped. But the bed was comfortable, the room was clean and we slept well. I have to say we encountered a cockroach that ran into a hole in the bathroom door but this was quickly solved by my husband taping over it.

Our most favourite part was the little cafe attached to it. Their bacon and egg breakfast sandwich which, with cheese is absolutely divine, costs only AUD$10 and it comes with a pot of coffee/tea. It is a good, big size made out of good quality ingredients.

On our return and this time for 2 nights, we were placed in a famliy room with two large beds but a tiny bathroom still so families may want to watch out for this! It had a smaller sofa but is still a good, comfortable size especially if you don't intend to spend very long in the room. The following night, we had to switch to a Compact Double so we practically experienced every type of room the three nights we stayed with them! Again, the room was a good, comfortable size, bathroom still a bit too small but the bed was lovely, sheets were crips, and we had a good rest while we were there.

TL:DR
- Rooms: Comfortable size but bathrooms are a bit small. Clean except for minor mishap with cockroach.
- Beds: Very comfortable, good new crisp sheets and fat pillows.
- Staff: They're super friendly and go out of their way to help you.
- Airport transfer: You can get it cheaper than anywhere else (including the train unless you intend on buying a day pass) from the hotel reception for AUD$12.
- Location: A lot of nutty people in King's Cross but we weren't disturbed. It gets noisy on the street at night but we weren't bothered by it in our room even though it was facing the main road.
- Transportation: A taxi rank sits right smack outside the hotel door, the King's Cross train station is about a 5 minute walk away.
- Highlight: Bacon and egg with cheese requested and coffee/tea, from the hotel cafe for only AUD$10!

This is a great place to stay in an interesting part of Sydney. Lots to do and see. We walked many places from here. Loved the old buildings and how things are being spruced up in this area.

This was our first time to visit Sydney and had no suggestions for where to stay other than from this site. The Bayswater Sydney looked like a fair price when compared to other places to stay. My wife and I enjoyed staying here. The room was clean. The bed was comfortable. You can open the windows for fresh air. The staff are cordial. We stayed in a deluxe room as it wasn't much more that the others. It was a good sized room, with a couch, king-sized bed, big WC and had plenty of cutlery and plates. We usually like a hotel with exercise equipment and the Bayswater had none, but do have a good relationship with a fitness center a couple blocks away, and people staying at the Bayswater are given free access to that center. We walked around the area instead. Also, no breakfast is included in the stay, but there are plenty of good eating places nearby, and a Coles at the corner. Getting there is no problem from the airport. We went via taxi, but returned to the airport using the shuttle bus. It took longer, but not too much longer. We will probably pass through Sydney again, and most likely will return to this hotel. It's in an area with lots of night life, so we will try to avoid Fridays and Saturdays. I'd recommend it.

Room Tip: It might not be so much the particular room as when you are there. Weekends can be noisy.

The Bayswater was perfect for what I wanted - the right price (very affordable with the 'do not disturb' deal), located close to food, supermarket & transport, a good size room with all the amenities you need, quality furnishings, opening window, and it was nice and quiet in the wing I was in. Staff were friendly & helpful. Only wish I knew guests had access to a gym - I would've brought my gym gear.

Room Tip: ask for top wing in corner - quiet

I don't know where these hotels get off on their self-written reviews sometimes. We booked in here at $130 per night--supposedly a bargain sale off their regular $400 per night for our room. What a crock! There is no way in a million years anyone would pay $400 for the room we stayed in. Hey, Sydney is expensive, and $130 was about as cheap as we could get for a room with a private bath. The place is spotlesslessly clean and the staff is super friendly and very helpful. The location is great, if you like the sex-crazed night life of Kings Cross. Be warned it's noisy. So I'm not saying you shouldn't stay here. Just don't be fooled by the supposed $400/night "full" rate. That's just a load of crikey.
