I stayed in the Jackaroo Hostel twice during my stay in Australia and can’t wait to go back. The location is just perfect if you like to go sightseeing, go out and meet people or hang out on one of the beautiful beaches. It’s next to the Kings cross station where you have supermarkets, restaurants, bars and nightclubs around. The city center and botanical gardens are easy to walk and by train its just 2 stops to Bondi. The atmosphere in the hostel is amazing and the staff around the owners Raquel, Jade and Rob are always friendly and help you to arrange trips, get tickets or with any other questions. Everything is spotless and cleaned by the staff daily. You have a large rooftop area with sunbeds, tv room, kitchen, laundry room, computers in the lobby, pool table and many spacious bathrooms. On Sundays most people meet on the rooftop for the free BBQ and the legendary Free Wine Friday is always the best night of the week. If you are traveling alone, it's easy to meet people in the common areas and the hostel has a lot of events and daily nights out to different bars and clubs. I recommended this place to everyone I met and I couldn’t imagine to stay at any other place in Sydney!

My personal experience of Jackaroo was a positive one resulting in me staying there for 8 months

Location is excellent as the hostel is next door to a main train station, has various bus stops near by and there are plenty of shops, supermarkets, bars and the city centre are within walking distance. Living in Kings Cross didn't bother me and I found it entertaining at times people watching and really handy to get home after a night out. However, for someone who is from a small town or easily intimidated it can be a bit scary at first but if your street wise you'll be fine.

Managed well, The 3 owners all siblings bring different personalities and skills to the hostel, Its also good to know that the owners actually work in the hostel majority of the time. If you had a problem there would always be someone you could approach which is reassuring. The team at Jackaroo included backpackers who had cleaning shifts and organised social events. For someone travelling on their own its reassuring to know to can just come along to the events that range from bbq on the roof or trips to the beach as well as nights out and from that you can make friends.

Overall Jackaroo is clean, friendly and affordable and I would stay there again.

This hostel by far is the most memorable place I have stayed in my travels. It was by sheer luck that I ended up here, but I am so glad I did. The hostel itself is amazing, but it's the owners and staff that really make this place top the list. They know exactly what backpackers are looking for and have created it in the heart of Sydney's King Cross neighborhood. Free Wifi (unlimited), Free Breakfast, Exciting location (and right next to the train station for easy travel throughout the city), TV room with plenty of movies, Nice Kitchen and Large Eating area, Free Pool Table, Large Rooftop Area, Nice Rooms and Linens, Nicest and Cleanest bathrooms I've ever seen in a hostel, and did I mention the Amazing Staff. The most important thing is that the owners really care about this place, their passion for creating a nice and memorable hostel for their guests really shows in how they take care of the place and how clean it is. I've stayed in hostels all around, Europe, New Zealand, Australia, Asia, and the Jackaroo has been by far the nicest hostel I have ever stayed in. Sometimes you get a nice place, but the staff are unfriendly, or you get the friendly staff but the place is run down. The Jackaroo is truly the whole package. Thanks Jade and Rob, as well as all the others, for creating such an amazing hostel!!!

Room Tip: The top floor was my favourite, a few stairs but closer to the nice rooftop.

This place is wicked. I intended to stay in Sydney for only a couple of months, but ended up there for just over 6, in no small part due to the Jackaroo. The place is extremely well looked after and clean, has lots of facilities, and has plenty of stuff for you to do. Every day there are activities for those wanting to explore, and every night there is a different party to crash (special mention for their world famous Free Wine Fridays, legendary nights they are!). The staff bend over backwards for you, and Rob and Jade (the brothers who own it) and the rest of the Jackaroo Crew really put there all into making sure your stay will always be something you remember! I will be staying there again before my visa expires for sure, stay at this hostel people!!!!!

There is no place like home but the Jackaroo is pretty close ! I spent almost two months there and I definitely recommend this hostel to any travelers. First of all, the reception is excellent and everyone working there (Raquel, Rob, Jade, Tom, Sarah,...) makes you feel comfortable and satisfied. Secondly the price is very reasonable for the location and above all benefits. Finally I would say that I have lived in this hostel has changed my trip and I forever.

This hostel is amazing. The stuff is really friendly and helps you out with whatever you need. You get free breakfast and free internet access. Some of the rooms are a bit small but there's plenty of space to hang out in the reception area where you can meet many cool people so you just need your room to sleep in.
The hostel crew has different activities going on every day and the best time to stay is definitely during christmas and new year, because there's just so much going on and everyone makes you feel like home.
The location is really good as well. Right next to the metro station and just a 15min. walk to the central business district with all the shopping centers and another 5 min. to the harbour.
i loved every day there of my all together 2 months.

You won't find a better place than this one. :)
