We had girls weekend away and took this tour with Robert. It was fantastic,a mix of boutique and larger wineries. Robert was very informative and knew his "stuff".... The wine tasting sessions were great especially Blueberry hill, very elegant winery and host. Would recommend this highly.

Perhaps because of the great reviews, we have had our expectations high for the trip. I have rated my experience as poor not because it was a disastrous trip, but more of it did not meet our expectations. I travelled with my wife and 2 parents.

Overall, i would say that our guide Mike was knowledgeable about the wines and i have learnt a great deal from him and i would say he has done his job as a tour guide, bringing us to places, explaining to us about what each winenary was good in, and the wine tasting at the different places wasn't too bad. I would not want to take these credit away from them. However what bothered me about the trip was the following:

(1) The ride there and back was a bumpy one. I wasn't sure if it was the condition of the road, or the suspension of the vehicle. But the ride felt bumpy even on the free ways. So it was probably a combination of the driver, the vehicle and the road.

(2) The Lunch option was disappointing. I would say i have tasted much nicer food in other parts of Australia and even back in Sydney city. I guess the food wasn't our 'palate'

(3) At the different stops, there were a couple of time all of us had to wait for our guide. Instead of spending time to talk to his customers, he spent time talking to the wineary staff and the other shop staff, and as mentioned, a couple of times, everyone was just waiting near the bus for him to be done. It also seemed that our guide seemed more keen to talk to the American/Australian guests, and did not really spend time talking to his Asian guests. There were about 8 Asians on the trip, but he spent most of his time talking to the other 5 Brits/Americans. That disturbed me greatly.

Overall, i would say the company had a great itinierary, the guide was knowledgeable. But if we want to talk about going an extra mile, or about the heart aspects of the guide. It was really disappointing. We weren't impressed at all.

Thank you for your review.

We were disappointed to read your comments and will address as follows:
• You travelled to the Hunter Valley in one of our Mercedes Benz Sprinter coaches – 7 months old – top of the range in Luxury travelling for 14 or 17 seat coaches. Your driver on the day has over 20 years coach driving experience with an unblemished record and many 5 star comments. The M1 highway and the Hunter Valley roads are typical of their kind – not the best surfaces to contend with but they are the roads we have in this area. We have the utmost confidence in our driver and vehicle and do wish the roads were a little better.
• Sydney offers some of the finest dining in the world. We cannot compare with the finest restaurants round Australia, however we do offer a balanced and affordable luncheon option to suit all guests on a Sydney-Hunter Valley wine tour.
• We take exception and are extremely offended by your comments of our driver’s perceived lack of personal attention and exclusion of our Asian guests in the day’s activities. Our guests come from all corners of the world with most tours having a variety of nationalities on board. Our drivers are known for their attention to detail, courteous manner and expertise in their field ensuring all guests are included and very welcome. Our record speaks for itself with over 333 Trip Advisor comments of which 97.3% are 4 and 5 star rated. Your 2 star rating is in the 2.7% minority – at the bottom of the comments rated.
• As a point of interest we note your star rating on the famous Bondi to Coogee coastal walk. This is Trip Advisor rated as Sydney’s third best attraction with 2113 comments, of which 97.8% were 4 and 5 star. You rated this attraction a lowly 3 stars – belonging in the 2.2% minority rating – again the bottom of the comments rated.
• The figures speak for themselves – Your Trip Advisor comments on these two attractions is completely at odds with nearly 98% of all the T/A contributors who also commented on their experiences of these two products. Therefor I will leave it the readers of this response to be the judge on your comments.

Went on a wine tasting tour over the June long weekend. Callum was our tour guide and I found him to be very informative and friendly, in fact the whole group got on really well which made it a most enjoyable day. Had no idea what to expect in the Hunter Valley and was pleasantly surprised. We visited large and small wineries as well as a brewery and cheese and chocolate places. It was interesting talking to the owners/wine makers in the smaller boutique wineries which gave a more personal insight. One of the owners/wine makers at Glandore Estate Wines was particularly welcoming and very generous with his tastings. A most enjoyable day and it has whetted our appetite to go and stay in the Hunter Valley and do some further exploring.

We were recently in Sydney for the Rotary International Convention and wanted to also do some day trips out to the surrounding areas. We picked the Blue Mountains (Dingo Travel- excellent) and also the Hunter Valley Wine Tasting Tours. It was raining the day we went, but it didn't affect our tour. Callum, our guide, was very flexible and knowledgeable giving our small group information about the countryside, vineyards and Australian wines. Our group of 12 or so was small, fitting into a large van. The size made it very easy and fast to get into and out of places easily and allowed us to visit some great boutique winemakers. My husband is a connoisseur of wines (especially reds) and he loved the tour. I don't actually drink alcohol, but enjoyed the trip -- Callum organized it so we had cheese tastings, olive tastings, oil tastings, vinegar tastings and chocolate tastings also. And one boutique winemaker served us some cheese and crackers along with the wine, as a treat! There are a lot of vineyards to choose from there, but Callum chose wonderful ones and we all enjoyed it immensely. Callum was sensitive about bathroom/coffee/tea stops (and we stopped at a wonderful fast food restaurant I wish would come the to US, Oliver's, which has healthy snacks, soups, smoothies, etc.) so we were very comfortable both going out to the Valley (which is more than an hour's drive) and back. We also got to see wild kangaroo's in the fields (from the van) as we drove along! Lunch was very good and a beer tasting was also available for a small additional fee. There was a yummy vegetarian option as well as a cafe with other less expensive choices, if one didn't want to eat with the group (and spend less on lunch, but the group lunch wasn't expensive compared to the food in Sydney---$20 for lunch +/-). I highly recommend the Hunter Valley Wine Tasting Tour !!! http://www.huntervalleywinetastingtours.com.au

We went on the Wine tour yesterday with Rob as our tour guide and could not speak high enough of the day. Rob was not only a nice easy going guy he knew his wines, cheese, chocolates and the area and was very informative and not in a boring tour guide way. A really great day out and one that we will definitely do again. Amanda and Kerry
