Great decor and inventive menu, but if you are looking for consistently good Mexican food rather than novelty food this is not the place for you.

Menu items are a strange mix of Mexican and non Mexican flavours, so you never quite know what you're going to get. Some dishes are very tasty (pork cheek taco), others are lacklustre (eg chicken quesadilla). The desserts are bad - awful flavours and overly fancy with competing and conflicting flavours.

Been twice now to give it a go - but much better Mexican food can be found on Crown street, or King street.

Ordered the Margaritas, which were fantastic, then it went a bit down hill. We ordered corn chips and salsa at the same time as drinks to nibble on.. when we chased 20 mins after our drinks had arrived we were told the kitchen were busy.... They finally arrived after our first two tapa's style dishes! We had a fish, pork and beef dish. When the first one was put down I tasted it and said it must be the fish (could not see as it is so dark).. then the fish turned up so we worked out it was the pork! I only knew one was fish because I could smell it and the other was beef because it arrived on lettuce. Basically I ended up putting on chilli sauce on all because they were tasteless. So to sum up, great atmosphere, staff friendly, food a bit bland, the portions are small (thought the prices seemed reasonable). We spent $90, only had one drink each and left feeling hungry.

Loved this place. Reading some of the other reviews, yes it was a bit of a wait to be seated however they had a bar. The lady on reception wasn't the warmest to start with but she got better. The waiter was fantastic, had great knowledge and would listen to his recommendations again.
I had a duck taco and chicken enchiladas, I thought these were great value for money. The enchiladas are something else and really filling. You get a lot for your money here.
The feel of the place was great too, will definitely be going back again.

We dined at Mexico food & liquor along with 14 other friends. The food, drinks, price & service were below average. We all had to dine somewhere else after our banquet... poor value for money. Our wait staff were rude & conceited. The only thing positive about our experience was the company. We won't be back.
