Our 2-bedroom apartment on the 7th floor, snagged at a great price through wotif, was more spacious in reality than the website photos showed; excellent views from the large balcony (complete with outdoor seating) with large sliding access doors from the living area as well as both bedrooms.

Bedrooms were airy and spacious with very comfortable beds, quality linen, second TV in the main, and lots of wardrobe space. Bedside reading lamps seemed to be rationed though, with just one in each bedroom and not the more usual two (one per sleeper :) as shown in the website photos - a minor but annoying inconvenience.

The two bathrooms were a delight - modern, bright and super clean, supplied with fluffy, quality towels and basic toiletries, the ensuite complete with a separate bath as well as shower - and hairdrier,
.
Kitchen was modern and fully equipped, including dishwasher, and we had no problems using the stove/oven by simply activating the pull-out extractor fan/light. The washer/drier was a different story and it defeated us! We checked through the big stack of instructions for all the appliances in the apartment found in the coffee table drawer, but alas, none for the washer/drier. The basic instructions posted on the laundry wall were very confusing and whilst checking for more comprehensive details, we found a room safe opposite the washer!

Had read the reviews below, so were prepared for intermittent reception availability - best way to enjoy these otherwise great apartments is to consider them as independent holiday accommodation rather than an apartment hotel as indeed reception, apart from check-in, was either absent/not answering phone/going to voicemail. As access to the rooftop barbeque area is with a $50 deposit key (a detail not included on the website) through that elusive reception, we didn't get to view the lights of Darling Harbour from the rooftop as we had hoped.

Broadband Internet is now available, but quite pricey - so we never attempted logging on, so can't comment on either download speed or ease of connection, as that too is through reception..

Traffic around the apartments was actually surprisingly light (see pic), even at the infamous Sydney rushhour times, and we had no traffic noise disturbances (we had bought earplugs, just in case!) - perhaps as we were on the 7th floor - although one of our group said he did hear a single car revving in the early hours of the morning, and could relate to the comment in one of the reviews below.

All in all, the apartment was above our expectations and we would certainly stay here again given similar pricing through wotif - if paying full rates, expectations would probably be higher and the relatively minor negatives more aggravating.

Booked this place based on another reveiw that mentioned we could store luggage in the provided storage lockers, which was great as we had an 8.30am meeting at Exhibition centre and only flew in at 7.30 same morning. Straight to Apartments, we rang prior and they gave instructions on how to get in and where to find lockers, from there a short walk to exhibition centre along the harbour. The room was exceptional, we booked a one bedroom but were allocated a 2, and the space was amazing, everything we could ever want. A short stroll away is a safeway, or any amount of restaurants if that's more your thing. We were also contacted just after midday to advise room was ready, as they knew we were arriving early. Staff were friendly, and if there was traffic noise, I was obviously too tired to notice. Highly recommended!

The apartment we stayed in was 2 bedrooms on the third floor. It has a realistic kitchen for a holiday but we we apprehensive about using it as there is a $AU750 charge if you set off the fire alarm and a couple on the floor below us did that just by using the shower. All rooms are spacious although the couch in the lounge is not designed for comfortable seating. The location is hard to beat for easy access to transport, Darling Harbour and the centre of the city is just a 15 minute stroll away across the Pyrmont pedestrian bridge. Excellent availability of restaurants within a 5 minute walking radius and there are 2 supermarkets nearby. The Star City Casino is 2 minutes walk away.

The location is also it's downfall for me as the road is very busy and traffic noise penetrates the apartment 24/7. Double glazing is sadly lacking here. There is a BBQ available for guest use on the rooftop, but we were only able to use it once over the 14 days in the evening as the wind was constantly blowing and often managed to blow the gas elements out. It probably needs to be moved or screened.

We had booked 2 weeks there as a timeshare but the room was only serviced midweek during the first week and not at all at the end of our first week. As part or our timeshare arrangement we are entitled to one service, if you stay more than 1 week, and it probably would have been better to service at the end of the first week but they had no cleaners working that day. During our stay we found that reception was poorly attended, which is advised but during the 14 days not one single call to reception was answered. Not a big issue but I think if reception is advertised to be manned during certain hours then it either should be or at the very least the phone answered as it was a portable phone. No internet access in the apartments but I was advised that upgrade was in hand. Very poor cable TV reception which was often out due to maintenance issues. Also advised that was being remedied but that did not happen during our stay.

On a personality note, there was never a greeting from reception when it was manned when you entered or left the building. I did find that a bit odd as normally reception staff are friendly and reception here requires you to squeeze past the desk in the entrance hallway. We were also arriving late (after 6pm) and it was only by reading reviews of the apartments that we discovered that reception would be closed when we arrived so emailed them to make late arrival arrangements.

In summary, it is a great location, more than adequate facilities but without earplugs we were unable to sleep and the traffic and verbal noise from outside managed to penetrate the plugs in a distant way. Definitely need double glazing when it is refurbished.

We are sorry that you did not completely enjoy your stay with us.

A number of the issues you mentioned have been under review by our Head Office to be rectified.

As to the fire alarm matter. It is the Fire Brigade that determines if someone will be fined or not. Just a tip for anyone staying at any property where they have set the fire alarm off .Be nice , friendly & helpful to the firemen & you may not get fined.

Wireless Internet is now available.

As this is a majority time share property it does not follow normal hotel procedures.
Someone is on site between 9am & 5pm & yes reception may not always be manned due to other duties & functions that are required to be performed.

The documentation you recieved from your time share company does advise you to contact us before your arrival for check in information etc.
We cannot contact you prior to your arrival because of privacy policies of Interval International that prevents them from supplying us with an email address.

Hopefully the next time you stay with us you will enjoy the improvements.

We stayed here a week in late May on a timeshare exchange. The 2 bedroom apartment worked out well for the two of us. Very quiet except for some street noise being essentially on Pyrmont Bridge Street. Though a tiemshare, this is more of an apartment building with a desk attended a few hours each day. The desk people were very helpful when there - we found the modern washing machine/clothes drier challenging.
There is a grocery store and a liquor store 2 blocks away. A few restuarants are nearby and more in Harborside just a short walk away. Having the monorail close by was convenient for connecting with the free tourist bus in the CBD.

We wanted a reasonably priced apartment close to Darling Harbour & chose Pinnacle Apartments though a last minute internet booking site. We were quoted about $55 for a taxi from international airport but booked a shuttle through the information counter for a flat fee of $14 per person ( even cheaper if you booked a return trip) and were pleased we did.
The entrance was a locked blank door but we finally gained entry & were given a code to enter the building in future. There was just a hallway with a receptionist & brochure rack plus an elevator. Reception 9 -11am, 1-5pm daily & an after hours phone .As we were early our room wasn't ready but we had no trouble storing 2 large suitcases & cabin bags in a large password -secured locker in the basement for $4 for up to 5 hours. There was also basement parking.

Our 1st floor apartment overlooking a major intersection ,but with good soundproofing, was worth waiting for. We'd been upgraded to 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 2 TVs - one in the main bedroom , a designer kitchen, living area and large balcony - great for people watching and al fresco meals. Our only quibble was that the ecolighting was a bit dim. The rooms are not serviced but come with a starter pack. There is a rooftop BBQ area that you have to book to access.

The location was under 10 minutes walk from the Pyrmont Bridge, Darling Harbour, the monorail station, the casino, Maritime Museum and bus & ferry stops.

Coles & Liquorland are only a bock away . There was a new conveniance store next door offering internet facilties replacing an old liquor store. The Fish Market was an easy 20 minute stroll away and we enjoyed the atmosphere & lunch there. Apart from the food court at the Harbourside Centre we thought Darling Harbour eateries were pricey. There were also reasonably priced eateries, a bar & pub on the way to the harbour. We didn't try the casino eateries but on our last day visited the fabulousGrower's Market held on the first Saturday of the month in Pyrmont Bay Park between the casino & the harbour and enjoyed an outdoor breakfast.

As our intention was to self cater, do plenty of walking & enjoy the harbour and ferries these apartments were ideal. Can't wait to return!
