An abominable hovel that obviously hasn't been cleaned since before the white men came. The grime-stained walls encrusted with unknowable substances made me think I was living in a flaccid Lovecraft novel. I'm fairly sure some peasant took a flop by the bed in my room, but the effort made to clean it was so half-hearted they might as well have just politely asked it to leave.
Elsewhere, there are tales of bed bugs, roaches, scabies and floors paved with condom wrappers. For God's sake, go somewhere else.
Booked two rooms. They looked good with very crisp nice white sheets stretched over the beds. It is a hostel, but the shared bathrooms were very tired with non working lights in both on one floor. Also loo seat falling off in one of the bathrooms. Kitchen well used by others and OK. Shared lounge was a room with a couple of dirty sofas and a TV.
Asked reception about nearest parking station and they did not have any idea. The people at the desk were pleasant, but I suspect that they were travellers on a work/reduced cost stay deal. Final straw was the second bedroom having bedbugs…not impressive.
In hind site would have been better to stay at an upmarket place with parking available.
In the middle of backpacker, pub, and traffic noise - authentic city living experience!
Single traveller female 20-25 I booked in through late rooms, location seemed good close to all I needed. They advertise a Clean room ...My story is this, I arrived To find a little shabby doorway to the left of above picture, there was a cockroach dead on the floor when I walked in, there were out of date posters peeling from all four walls of this tiny hallway. The Front desk was no more than a few pieces of MDF and someones Net-book as a computer. I arrived not to be greeted but to staff who anwsered the phone and stayed on the phone for over 10 minutes sorting out personal issues.Eventually I was told my Room (mixed 4 bed dorm) was not ready to come back in 30 min, I came back and was told cleaners had only just arrived, 1 hour later I was told it was ready and to go 2nd floor on my left, I was not told of where the amenties like kitchen or laundry or bathroom were. I arrived and all I could smell was the stench of smoke, I went to the toilet nearly fell of the seat as it was broken, there was fag ash all over the floor, Extractor barely worked. My room was occupied by 3 men, again there was fag ash all over window sills, tobacco strewn all over floor, condon wrappers on floor, the lockers were broken so had nowhere safe to store my valubles, the place was filthy the 'fresh' lined they provided was full of short black hairs (use your imagination) and blanket had food stins on as a young female I was disgusted that they put me in a room with 3 males, the atmosphere was depressing, I immediatly found alternative Hostel 2 doors down.. I had to stay here 1 night as everywhere was booked on such late notice...woke up with 10 bed bug bites felt disgusting. I have never written a review before but hope this really helps people as I would not wish a nights stay here on my worst enemy. I am still awaiting a refund, their communication is awfull and I am appauled at the conditions of this hostel. Staff are flustered, rude, overworked and have no Customer service at all.
we had to change accommodation and popped into to find if they had any availability for the following day, whcih they did and even let me have a look at a room, bathrooms and kitchen, all very clean.
when arrived early able to leave luggage with them till check in,agreed rate of $80 per night for the 2 of us, the room and bedding was clean, new mattress on bed, even had fridge in room.
we stayed nearly a week and the communal areas were cleaned on a daily basis.
we had to change rooms for our final night but even that was no bother, they let us leave our luggage in our new room before check in.
good central position
we are an older couple and first time stayed in a hostel, would do it again.
We stayed Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, and it is very hard to sleep. The windows have gaps and every tiny sound from the street below seems amplified. The noise from the bars late at night and the jackhammer streetworks at 7am was painful. We even strung up the bed covers as an extra sound barrier but that didn't work.
The shared bathrooms were grotty, showers full of hair, and the shower drain was blocked so the floor was always flooded for the full 3 days we were there.
There is no lift and we were up 6 or more flights of stairs, which was so painful with a big suitcase and no help from the staff.
The kitchen was usable but pretty smelly. The room and linen were clean, but that was the main positive point. And I felt safe.
But at $110 per night, it wasn't cheap enough to justify the poor conditions.
