Great place for a rest, ideal location with easy access to centre quay train station and the many cafés in the Rocks. Quite a few families and kids staying, not a party hostel. The rooftop terrace us really cool, great views! The hostel was clean, and the staff are great. Internet is expensive! It would be great to have free Wifi.

Not for the super budget traveler as this place is not cheap by international standards, but when you stay here, one will appreciate the need for such pricing.

Excellent views in a tourist part of Sydney, the rocks.

I stayed in the 6bed dorm and paid $49/night.

The dorm has it's own bathroom inside, the room was neat and very spacious.

The whole atmosphere was present and felt somewhat like a bit of a resort.

Would recommend.

For the price I paid, I thought it's for the convenient location but I was wrong when I entered the entrance.
It's built on the Big Dig (like really cool). Great reception, common area and kitchen. Staffs are really helpful. Rooftop view with Opera House and Harbour Bridge is simply awesome, TV room is cool. Room is clean and with lots of sunlight, as well as clean en-suite bathroom. But we could hear the noise from the road pretty clearly (just sleep and wake up early and you'll be fine).
Though it's near to Circular Quay Station, dont take that station if you come from the airport as you gotta drag your luggage up steep stairs. Take the next one (Wynyard Station) as the staff told me no stairs but slightly further.
All-in-all, I'll come back on my next trip to Sydney.

I'm going to start this review with a statement that will put a lot of backpackers off staying at this hostel - $50 a night is a lot for a dorm room! But is it worth it?

I stayed here for 6 nights and loved every minute of it. If you're arriving in Sydney by train or bus, the hostel is quite a way from Central Station. But fear not, there's a free CBD shuttle bus that will take you to Circular Quay, which is just 5 mins from the YHA.

The hostel itself is located perfectly, close to Circular Quay (and the ferries), Harbour Bridge and the Opera House. On the third floor there's a wonderful outside area where you can check out a great panorama of Sydney's biggest draw - the harbour.

This is a big hostel and is more like a hotel, with large communal areas, a lift, electronic key entry, air conditioning and 24-hour reception. Now the $50 a night is making more sense, especially in a city as expensive as Sydney.

I found the staff here to be very friendly and polite, big thanks to the lovely Swedish girl on reception who helped me with some scanning I needed to do and even volunteered to witness a document I needed to sign.

The Rocks is a lovely area, and there are some great pubs nearby, even one next door. And despite its central location, the hostel is really quiet at night.

As I had 17 roommates in my 6-person dorm over the 6 nights, I suspect this hostel has a lot of turnover. But even so, I was able to make done friends over my stay and the hostel does organise BBQ's etc to help people get to know each other.

A perfect experience.

This hostel is nice, clean & well located..... Shame it's just a bit boring!
Kitchen was large & clean but we didn't use it.

Guy that checked us in was a bit of an idiot..not a fan! Everybody else that worked & we spoke to were nice.

Three generations stayed in the Rocks YHA this past week for 4 nights. We had a triple room with ensuite. Amazing view. Comfortable beds and modern bathroom. This YHA is the best. The view from the deck is fabulous of the harbour/cruise ships perfect for evening drinks. The free pancakes for breakfast Tuesday was just one of the many wonderful bonuses of our stay. The location is so central to Circular Quay and delights of the Rocks. Recommend to all ages.

Room Tip: Rooms on East side of building have views to Harbour.
