I had read that this was the best new restaurant in Sydney. Sri Lankan cuisine is a cousin to Indian cuisine but at the same time very different and should not be confused for Indian. The spice combinations are complex and bright. The food is surprisingly light even though ghee is used in some dishes. The heat levels are indicated next to each dish. The wait staff is very helpful in explaining each dish and suggesting dishes that suit your heat concerns.

Great little restaurant and mostly great dishes . Three of us ordered a bowl of Murukku ok and a dish of Hot butter cuttlefish .. stunning flavour , and the crab balls again stunning . Could have ordered more of the crab balls . We had egg hoppers and a plain hopper with our main courses of Fish curry .... fantastic ...Chicken ..curry very tasty and the lamb curry that we felt was overcooked . With these dishes we had a side of eggplant and a stunning dhal ... fabulous . We had the mixed sambol plate to enjoy with the main dishes. The rose gelato and ginger& Turmeric were very enjoyable and the king coconut sorbet just as tasty . Service was excellent and friendly .

This is the place to get truly mouth-watering hoppers and sides to go with it. The dahl wa some of the best I've tasted in my life. Service was relatively quick and staff were friendly. Not much room though, so ensure that you come in early to get a spot!

I read a review of this place in some small quarterly some time ago and have waited until the whole family was available to try it out.
A small place in Riley Street that we missed the first time we looked.
No bookings for lunch but the review had been so positive that we didn't mind the 40minute wait to be seated,
Completely unfamiliar with Sri Lankan cuisine we took the advise of our waiter for the first of what became many many dishes,
Others have mentioned the portion sizes, smallish but the quality, the taste, the sensatioinal delicate blending of spices, the heat of the hotter curries (without losing the flavour of the ingredients), the sweet sourness of the tamarind tea, the joyful service all blended for a wonderful lasting experience.
Is it authentic, I have still have no idea. Is it good, absolutely, is it worth it, absolutely, will be go back, already have and we will go again.
Recommend the Fish Curry.

There is considerable skill in this small but kitchen it’s clearly competent chefs. And the chef patron is not above popping out into the restaurant to serve and explain. Our initial waiter was helpful in explaining the format and the dishes but my husband had done our homework on their website so we had some idea of what to do. We ordered as requested on the paper menu and I have to say that I enjoyed nearly all the food. The prawn curry was a deep brownish green so it had no visual appeal. The chicken was delicious and was the daal and the cabbage.
We ordered two hoppers each but the plain hoppers did not appear till we had nearly finished all the rest of the food. And at the change over of staff, it went a bit more awry. The order for dessert was clearly forgotten by the new waitress. The request for the bill at the end had to be repeated. The card reader was left for us to follow the instructions and I had to make a couple of requests for attention. And by the way, the question “Sparkling or still water?” Will produce a carafe and it ill be replaced when empty bust at $4.00 a pop.
So 4 stars for good food, but someone should look at the attitude of some staff.
