When you think of great Greek food in Australia, you usually think of Melbourne. Now Sydney can claim equal bragging rights with the arrival of Medusa. And, unlike Melbourne, you don't have to travel outside the CBD to enjoy the cuisine.
The food is really, really good. A shared meze plate starter was very enjoyable - great olives, nice dips and very fresh, very most flat breads. For main, the lamb shoulder was magnificent - slow cooked tenderness, very little fat and beautiful lemon flavoured potatoes. The wfine list offers an OK selection at pretty reasonable prices, unlike too many other Sydney restaurants that manage to charge 3 to 4 times retail on their wines. In fact, the prices at Medusa are pretty good overall - you can have a top-notch three course meal with a couple of drinks and attentive service for under $75.
Only demerit points arise from a modern decor that misses the opportunity to visually anchor the traditional Greek food experience.
