“An equal match for the best that Melbourne can offer”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 20, 2013 via mobile

When you think of great Greek food in Australia, you usually think of Melbourne. Now Sydney can claim equal bragging rights with the arrival of Medusa. And, unlike Melbourne, you don't have to travel outside the CBD to enjoy the cuisine.

The food is really, really good. A shared meze plate starter was very enjoyable - great olives, nice dips and very fresh, very most flat breads. For main, the lamb shoulder was magnificent - slow cooked tenderness, very little fat and beautiful lemon flavoured potatoes. The wfine list offers an OK selection at pretty reasonable prices, unlike too many other Sydney restaurants that manage to charge 3 to 4 times retail on their wines. In fact, the prices at Medusa are pretty good overall - you can have a top-notch three course meal with a couple of drinks and attentive service for under $75.

Only demerit points arise from a modern decor that misses the opportunity to visually anchor the traditional Greek food experience.

“More than impressed”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 20, 2013 via mobile

A colleague and I ate at Medusa this evening on a spur of the moment decision whilst being in Sydney for business.
Whilst Medusa doesn't have any form of street presence once you climb the stairs from Martin Street you're welcomed into a well present environment with fantastic aromas.
As we'd both had a considerable lunch at the Red Lantern (Yum) we chose to only have main courses. I chose the swordfish and prawns souvlaki and he the moussaka and we shared a rocket salad.
On reading the menu I expect some petite souvlaki plainly presented on a bare plate. I was seriously surprise to see the large and most delicious looking souvlaki on my well dressed plate accompanied by a beautifully grilled prawn. Without doubt the best Greek meal I've ever had and the accompanying rocket salad was delicious. My colleague commented the the moussaka was the best he'd ever had.
All in all genuinely one of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time.
A must try for anybody staying in the Sydney CBD or Darling Harbour precinct.

“Marvelous Medusa”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 16, 2013

We booked after reading Tripadvisor reviews which were very accurate. Booked by email from our home in Hong Kong and received immediate replies and inquiries from the owners. Our waitress was excellent informing or warning us should I say about the large portions. She eventually said: You choose and I will tell if it's too much! So we took here advice and had one shared starter and we shared the beautiful shoulder of lamb with a Greek salad (excellent). We also shared the toffee doughball dessert which was huge. Food was lovely and the lamb was out of this world. There were even Valentine's Day fireworks in Darling Harbour which we could see from the large plateglass windows of the restaurant. Sydney is an expensive city but Medusa is tremendous value for money.

“So good weather there twice”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 14, 2013

For travellers from the UK Australia as not cheap and Sydney an expensive place. With this in mind we researched this restaurant and ate there twice in a four night stay.
Great food - proper Greek grub but with style - and first class thoughtful and watchful service. Good lamb, lovely octopus, Greek salad.
The owner and his family keep a watchful eye on all aspects of the restaurant and know what is going on.
Not cheap, but worth the money and by Sydney standards good value an hope to return one day.

“Tasty food but overall average dining experience”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 9, 2013

The lamb was tasty (generous portions) but the overall dining experience wasn't outstanding. The waiter was good at 'selling' the food but lacked a sincere approach in ensuring we were enjoying our evening. He didn't even ask us if our main course was okay. Overall we wouldn't likely return as there are too many amazing restaurants in Sydney.
