“Nice atmosphere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 2, 2013

We had dinner at the Gazebo, mid week. The food and wine was good, but expensive. The staff were friendly and the service was good. The seating is good, off street, but interesting to see the passers by and what's going on in the street. The food helpings were generous and well prepared.

“Trendy, fun and easy”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 26, 2013

I always love an afternoon at Gazebo. I went recently with my boyfriend for a lunch date and it never disappoints. The staff are attentive, they have good weekly specials on ($40 Chandon on Sundays) and if its not raining, you can people watch but enjoy comfy seating and heating.
The menu has become a little more decorated recently which is great. We both enjoyed their special Sunday roast. The service was generous, the pork was delicious, but it need more than the small salad and potatoes to accompany, a carrot or some beans would have made it spot on.

“Fun place to go with friends”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2013

Gazebo has a great atmosphere and really friendly, helpful staff. With a new chef in the kitchen, the menu has become more refined and less extensive but the excellent quality of food and the dishes that are brought out, make up for the lack of choice. Great, great, great wine list.

“Poor Food & Harassed”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 27, 2013 via mobile

This was a group catch up set up by friends in Sydney, so we were looking forward to a great time. The warning bells started ringing when early discussions with staff placed strict conditions upon us, namely we all had to arrive on the dot, and order promptly. On the day before, we got a confirmation request call and email along with a Text at 9am on the morning of the lunch, which is a little bit of overkill.
The location and the venue are great, it's the service and the food that lets this place down. It took some time for us to get our drinks and the staff appeared to be under pressure even though the place was half empty.
Menu choices were really limited, and when the food came out, it wound up to be a disappointment - the fish was glorified fish and chips, and other meals were of a pub standard (shame the prices were much higher). One of our party had two boys (we had been told that kids were allowed, but there was no kids menu???) - the boys wanted ice cream, but the wait staff flatly refused this request, but relented after we stated we would get ice creams from the corner store and bring them back to the restaurant.
As if the the contact didn't end there, we got an email not two hours after the meal asking for feedback. This place really needs to lift it's game.

“Good casual fare”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 17, 2013

Earlier this week some friends and I had dinner at the Gazebo Wine Garden Restaurant. For starters we decided to share 4 entrees; the prawn cocktail was presented in a gimmicky fashion but tasted fine, the chicken and duck liver pate was velvety smooth with a refined delicate taste, the sausage roll (a signature dish of Justice North), were squat little tasty treats. My favourite, though, were the mussels in a leak, cider and crème fraiche broth -- delicious!

When it came to the mains I ordered one of the specials for the night, lamb rump with eggplant caponata. My friends ordered the duck confit, veal cutlet, and the rainbow trout, which was another special for the night. They seemed to enjoy their choices, except for the comment that the duck was a little salty, perhaps the salt from the marinade wasn’t fully brushed off before it was cooked. My lamb rump was very nicely cooked but the caponata was too oily for my taste, I guess it was because the eggplant tends to soak up oil like a sponge.

All in all we had an enjoyable evening; the décor is casual with a leafy feel in keeping with the garden bar, and the wait staff are helpful and pleasant. Generally the quality of the food is good, and there is an extensive range of wines available by the glass. Not long ago, it was the place to go to have a drink and meal until a sister restaurant “The Winery” opened a couple of suburbs away. No doubt now with a new chef behind the pans some of the former patrons will be tempted to come back.
