We also visited Barramundi with a voucher so we definitely weren't expecting the world, but the seafood platter was more of a fish & chip platter that you could buy for $10 at a local fish & chip shop. You would be quite dissapointed if you paid full price for the seafood platter.
The staff tried their best to be polite & attentive but it was a comedy of errors, we orderd a white wine but they poured us a red.
Maybe it's best to keep in mind that it is a "cafe/bar" & not a restaraunt. A strong point is that a lot of the meals are reasonably priced & the beer & wine selection is quite good.

“A hidden gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 28, 2012

Went to Barramundi with friends using a deals docket for a seafood platter for 2. One of the best deals we have had. The seafood was superb. Had a look at the menu, everything was reasonably priced. Staff very attentive. We all came out vowing to return.
Although it is a few metre's off the beaten track It well worth looking for if you are visiting Sydney. Just a short walk from Circular Quay & the Rocks. We also had a bottle of wine with the deal. Although it was their cheapest we were very impressed with it & if a glass was purchased at $6.50 it would be one of the cheapest in town

“Extremely disappointing, rotten seafood! AVOID!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 22, 2012

Location was central and the cafe itself looked good. However that is where the good things end.

Management (possibly owners) there belittled us and made us feel unwelcome and unworthy. Felt as if we were begging to eat there. Absolutely rude.

Salt and pepper calamari was simple, like any child could have made it. Tempura prawns were a very small serving.

I am almost the seafood platter we had was rotten. The lobster was fine (albeit imported lobster) but the crab and scallops were almost certainly past their use by date. Partner had the barramundi fillet, which was dry, tasteless, and plastic like.

Service was very slow, which was surprising because the restaurant was empty, not surprising.

“It's not in Tasmania-shame becasue if it was I would not have been”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 20, 2012

I have lost count of the number of restaurants I have been in around the world but this takes the prize for the worst ever in various respects. We stood patiently waiting to be seated, totally ignored by the staff until I walked up and stood in front of one and asked if they had a table. When we sat down the waitress explained that there were a few things missing from the menu-barramundi (no she was not joking), and salmon. We ordered wine, only to be told that my choice had sold out, so I ordered another (Polin & Polin Chardonnay-delicious). When the waitress returned I ordered the steak. She excused herself and came back a few moments later to say they had sold out of steak. "OK" I said "I'll have the seafood platter, but can I have it with mash, not chips". "No problem" she said and my partner ordered the same-there wasn't much left on the menu. The waitress returned two minutes later. You guessed it-no mash-they had sold it all. By now we were half way through the wine and starving hungry so we stayed. The platter was a massive disappointment. Everything was over-fried apart from the salmon replacement which looked and tasted like John Dory. I heard the couple on the table next to us complaining about the lack of menu items available for their 'voucher', which may give a clue as to why all the good stuff was gone. It doesn't even have a view-it is on the corner of two busy roads. We won't be back.

“Lovely refuge on a (torrential) rainy night. Very well priced.”

Tempura prawn entree - great. Chicken/mushroom risotto - very nice. Barramundi wrapped in prosciutto - basic but very nice (served with a slightly lumpy mashed potato and roasted vine tomatoes - could have done with some rocket on the side!). Service was very attentive however no water was offered at any stage.
