“Interesting and innovative”

A restaurant that charges very high prices and wants to be amongst the elite has to ensure that every dish is exquisite. Not just mouth watering but the food needs to produce an ahh of appreciation with every morsel. Arras doesn't quite do this and therefore I can only give it a 'very good'.
The 'Amuse Bouche' is such an example. Such a dish is experimental, interesting and innovative. None of our table were actually able to work out what was trying to be achieved. The salmon and tzatziki was excellent but once again we all weren't too sure about the cucumber and olive.
The Milly Hill lamb was cooked perfectly but there was a bit of sinew in the helpings.
The desserts were good and the petit fours well accepted.
The presentation of all the dishes was excellent.
The restaurant is decorated in a very modern style and the bathrooms are very clean. There is a feeling of elegance. The service was excellent as one would expect.
Recommended for the adventurous who want to try something new.
There is a parking garage right next door but keep in mind that Clarence Street is a one way!

“Petit Fours Platter is the highlight”

Came here for a special occasion and was really happy with the food and service! We had the 5 course kitchen menu (which is the chef experiments) so each dish was a surprise! Like a normal degustation, the portions aren't that big but they are very varied and interesting. The service is great and I also loved their bread and butter. The highlight though was their petit fours platter, which was this massive 1m by 1m board filled with different candies!

“Top notch - experts in every way”

This was my birthday dinner celebration and it was the best present ever! We indulged in the degustation menu which included the most tasty morsels of expertly prepared seasonal ingredients we have ever encountered. From the "amuse bouche" to the spectacular dessert we were knocked out by the creative flair of the serves and the complimentary flavours. And what about the restaurant's décor! Elegant, refined and even a little quirky. The wine list was spectacular, the range immense from every wine region you could think of. And if all this wasn't enough at the end of our meal we were presented with a tray of petits fours arranged decadently to take as many as you wish. To our delight the chefs have competitions of who comes up with the best type of petits four - they both win, this is truly a signature of a brilliant restaurant. Another valuable gem was our host Michael, who is clearly a very accomplished sommelier, his knowledge base was broad and impeccable. He looked after us expertly with our dining experience, from explaining all the sumptuous flavours as we dined then providing perfect wine matching choices to accompany our meal.
We felt deliciously indulged - what a perfect night!

“Outstanding food”

We had a brilliant night at Arras, with amazing food and wine, outstanding service and a great atmosphere. We decided on the five course kitchen menu with matched wines, which came with two amuse bouche and petit fours. The food was innovative, expertly prepared, perfectly executed and beautifully presented. Standouts were a dish of prawns with grapefruit and artichoke, lamb with sous vide pumpkin and amaranth, and the finale, the petit fours. Unfortunately we did not have room for the cheese, which looked spectacular. We're planning to return to try that!

What really made the night was the hospitality of the head waiter, who was friendly and made the night come alive. Highly recommend.

“Brilliant from every angle”

We had a very enjoyable evening at Arras in Sydney. The food was outstanding, and the service professional and friendly.

When you think "fine dining Sydney" it's easy to think of Quay or Aria etc, but really Arras is right up there with them - this was a terrific meal and each and every dish was top-notch (I was so-so about the Duck, but others loved it). As others have noted, the petit fours put other restaurants to shame - just wow!

The restaurant is tastefully decorated, bathrooms are super clean and modern, and there's a feeling of elegance throughout.

Sadly too many empty tables, this place really deserves support. It felt like a hidden secret to us. Highly recommended!
