“Ask for block 3 or 4”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 2, 2014

We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment. We took the advice of other people to ask for an apartment in either Block 3/4. This is because 1 and 2 are closer to the level crossing and you hear the bells. The trains did run a couple of times a day and night but didnt cause us any problems. Apartments good with a big balcony. Great location with easy walk to jetty, beach and restaurants. We would stay again.

We stayed in a 3 bedroom apartment. We new about the carnival and train lines so expected the noise.
However, the 2nd day we were there we noticed the light dangling from it's socket in the kitchen. Reported same and it was fixed.
Sunday morning we went to cook breakfast and found the stove did not work. Rang and reported to reception. There are two switches next to the stove and one was jutting out. The oven worked so we wondered if the switch for the stove was broken.
One end of the lounge has sunken and the other end the recliner part doesn't work. Neither did one of the single recliners.
For 4 star luxury apartments, i found this most unsatisfactory.
I would stay again, but i would check everything first and report it.

Room Tip: We stayed in apt. 43. good views, Just needs updating to 4 star quality

Stayed here for a week and found a few reasons why I would personally not stop here again. Property right beside train line, trains through the night tooting their horns. Couldn't sit outside on the balcony, too much loud music, screaming & announcements from a Carnival on the other side of the railway track. The rooms were very dusty and we had to clean the cupboards before we put our clothes on them. The most unfortunate incident was when someone smashed into our parked car in Bay 41 which was located beside the pillar that the had the garage door key opener on it. Fortunately we found by chance ourselves the person who did it and he had reported it to the receptionist but she never contacted us. A note on the windscreen, under the door of apartment or a phone call, none of the above. The person who was driving was leaving to go back home to Spain the next day and if we had not found him by coincidence, we would have had to go through our own insurance to have it repaired and it was not a small scratch but a large dent. When we spoke with a receptionist she said, yes someone had mentioned it. I will not go into details of the conversation but she was totally nonchalant and came across as if she couldn't care and obviously not well trained. I would have expected some sort of incident form would have to be filled out but NO. When asked would it be possible to look at the CCT camera she said hey didn't work and were only there for show to deter people from doing the wrong thing. So much for security parking??
We paid $2020 for a 2 bedroom apartment but we regret staying there as there are so many better options in our opinion and we will go look at them when we go back to Coffs.

Hello Aidan,
Thank you for staying with Pacific Marina Apartments and for your feedback.
Our apologies for the dust on your wardrobe shelves. Coffs Harbour has been extremely dry lately and there is a lot of dust in the air. The apartment was thoroughly cleaned prior to your arrival however we did have windows and doors open for a time to allow fresh air through. With the dust in the air and the soot from the occasional goods train this can settle on surfaces quite quickly.
With regard to the noise from the train, we do advertise on our website that there is a train line. Whilst most people are not bothered by this, and in fact love to watch the trains go by, there are some people who are more sensitive to the noise.
The carnival is an annual event for the Christmas school holidays only and families come from all over to enjoy the festivities. The carnival runs from 6pm to 10:30 each evening and while it can be a little loud at times it does only go for a few hours and most guests love the atmosphere that it brings.
The incident in which another vehicle damaged your car was regrettable. The guest in question attempted to contact you. He reported to reception and told our receptionist that he would leave you a message on your vehicle. Our receptionist reported the incident to us and we recorded it in our diary. When you came and spoke to us regarding this we conveyed our apologies that you had not received a note as we had been told you would and we fully agreed with you that our receptionist should have followed up with you. Unfortunately as it has been extremely busy with the holiday season this did slip her mind. Our apologies again if you thought we were not being attentive to your issue. Rest assured that we take all issues within the complex very seriously and we are very concerned that this occurred within our car park area. In the several years we have been managing Pacific Marina Apartments this is the first time anyone has ever had a vehicle damaged whilst on the property.
We hope that you will consider coming to Pacific Marina Apartments again and we will endeavour to make your experience a more pleasurable one.

If you are a light sleeper, don't even bother staying!! Trains come through every hour, on the hour every night, it's terrible!! Also, we were not advised of the massive carnival on out the back. So we had the music pumping from that also. We were in the 1st unit block and although the units are big and have everything that you could want in them. The train and the carnival just ruined it all.
If we could have cancelled it - we would of. We paid $240 per night. We could have paid that elsewhere WITHOUT train lines. Also the picture looked NOTHING like the unit we stayed in.

Hello and thank you for your feedback.
We advertise on our website that we are close to the trains. The majority of guests are not bothered by the trains and most mention that they barely heard them. We have many enthusiasts who love to come and watch the trains go by and kids find them a real treat. However we do understand that there are some people who are more sensitive to the noise. We do offer complimentary ear plugs for guests who find it difficult to sleep.
We have also contacted the relevant rail authorities for clarification of the timetables and there are considerably less than 24 trains in a 24 period and at night the most there are after 10pm and prior to 6:30am is usually 4.
The carnival is an annual Coffs Harbour event run for the Christmas school holidays and operates from around 6pm to 10:30pm each evening. While the sound can carry at times it does only go for a few hours and most guests love the festive atmosphere.
During the holiday season we are always happy to discuss any issues with our guests and if they would rather have a refund and stay elsewhere we are more than willing to assist. Had you come to reception to see us we would have helped in any way we could to make your stay more enjoyable.
All of our apartments are individually owned and furnished, however they are all furnished to a 4 star standard. As we have more than 40 apartments in our holiday rentals it would be impossible to put photos of all of them on the internet, however we do have a wide selection of photos that depict a wide range of our apartments.
If you would like to come to Pacific Marina apartments again please do not hesitate to contact us prior to booking to discuss your requirements, which we will do our very best to accommodate.

Stayed in a 2 bed unit with toddler and baby. Unit was lovely and spacious and led out onto a lawn. Unit contained everything that we needed for our stay. Staff were really friendly. Dale was very attentive to any minor issues we had with the unit and was for happy for our toddler to play with the sprinklers over and over again! Whilst the complex was very quiet we could hear the train and also the fair across down by the Jetty (the Fair only operates at Xmas holiday time I believe). Would definitely recommend this place.

We stayed here for 2 nights on the way home from a 2 week road trip. It was the perfect way to end our driving holiday. We stayed in room 42 which was on the 2nd floor and over looked one of the pools. We could see glimpses of the ocean between the trees.

We were very happy with our 3 bedroom apartment. We found it to be very spacious and clean (although there were a few ants making an appearance in the kitchen on the 2nd night) and had plenty of storage. All 3 Bedrooms had air conditioning, as did the lounge/dining area. The kitchen was very well equipped and we could have easily stayed here for a week or 2. This apartment has 2 very comfy leather lounges and as mentioned in the apartment themselves they are all individually owned so all furnishings and decor and kitchen items will vary from apartment to apartment as they have all been purchased by the individual owners. We found the beds to be comfy also.

Yes the train line is behind the apartments but it didn't worry us at all and in fact I didn't even hear the train go through during the night. My husband enjoyed listening to it the few times it went through during the day. Another reviewer complained about having to take their rubbish down to the bin but I don't see this as a problem. And yes the air-con units are near the bedroom window but this didn't worry us either. Being on the end of the block though we were able to look straight into the unit at the end of the next block so we kept the blinds down to give us privacy.

The jetty is an easy walk away, as is a calm bay type beach. We wanted the waves so walked along the beach path for about 10 minutes where you can swim either in the surf (where the lifesavers were) or in the calmer waters of the inlet. If you prefer a faster route to the beach you can walk straight along the street.

We would definitely stay here again.

Navigated the Summerland Way to link up with the new part of Pacific Hwy enroute to Coffs Harbour. Pacific Marina was as advertised and perfect for 2 adults and a soon to be teenage child. Top floor balconies street side & coast side it was large enough for us all to have space including our extended family visitors. The parking undercover and the choice of two salt water pools plus the walk to the gorgeous ocean made the perfect prelude tonic for the Christmas pressures and family visits. A few small details for improvement but mostly perfect spot for us.
