Bananatown Motel

We stayed two nights in the Bananatown Motel. We were looking for somewhere cheap to sleep as we had plans to fill our days. Accomodation was very budget, while the bed was ok the pillows were very old and, on closer inspection, grossly stained. The bathroom was functional. The service was great with the lady serving us offering plenty of advise. To my suprise the traffic didnt actually bother us at all.
Lets face it you get what you pay for and if we were to do the same thing again in Coffs we would probably consider this again but i think we would choose to spend $30 more for something a little nicer. Location wise this is an easy walk to the restaurants pubs and shopping in the main street area.

Room Tip: bring your own pillows

Not sure where to start here. Floppy soft bed with polyester floral quilt on top, lumpy pillows. Ugly outdated bathroom. Kettle that was black inside when I took the top off to fill it. Ugly bare brick walls. Worn pink towels laid in a fan pattern on the bed with little packet soaps on. And right next to the Pacific Highway. Probably the ugliest room I have ever stayed in. Couldn't wait to leave.

Bananatown Motel is right on the Pacific Highway which is the road which connects Sydney and Brisbane (Grafton Street is a small entry road for a line of motels along the Pacfic Highway). We basically chose it because they were advertising a rate of $75 per night for a double room, we were super tired after a long trip up from Sydney and the name of the hotel seemed cool!
The hotel appears to be run by a husband and wife team who were always friendly and helpful. The rooms were adequate for a budget hotel, with everything you needed and everything very clean. There's only two things I can fault with the whole stay. As the Motel is right on the corner of the Pacific Highway and Albany Streets the noise from the passing semi traliers and Sydney to Brisbane trucks is very, very loud. I am a heavy sleeper and it even woke me up a couple of times! Also, we managed to loose our key during our stay. After a very long search It didn't show up and we were charged $100 to replace it (I'm not knocking the charge as I know they are special locks used but don't loose your key under any circumstances!)
If you are a super heavy sleeper who just needs to spend the night in beautiful Coffs Harbour I would recommend this hotel for you.
