“Best modern hotel in Canberra, but overly expensive and pool/spa isn't open at night it shuts at 5.”
Reviewed December 18, 2012 via mobile

I have stayed here a couple of times, the rooms are very nice.. A sitting area, kitchen and lovely modern bathrooms.
My partner and I had a night away from home, in room service at the dinning table, drinks on the balcony, cocktails downstairs in the bar and a spa in the health club.
What I found really upsetting about this place is that the pool and spa only opens during the day.. So don't expect to use the pool and spa after 5pm, this is the only reason unfortunately why we have not gone back.

Stop people parking on the footpath. Start behaving like a five star facility not something you would find in the 'burbs. Good hotel, great location but big problem. The staff are friendly and helpful. Ostani, the bar ,is a great place for a drink after work and the pizzas are great.

Dear Amisamy,

Thank you for your review of the Ostani Bar located at the Hotel Realm.

We couldn't agree more with you in regards to parking on the Government verge at the front entrance of the Hotel Realm. Over the past year we have lobbied to have this situation resolved but have not made any progress. We also have submitted requests to have hedges planted along the entrance to stop people parking however this too needs to be approved by Government. So we agree with you on this matter and it is incredibly frustrating for us as management as it is out of our control.

Regards,

Emil Kovacik

Strange location unless you want to spend all your time in business meeting; Parliament .... Or the A.W.M.
Rooms were well appointed, reception staff were ok, restaurant meal good. Won't stay again though...

The Realm is a stylish and discrete place to stay when in CBR. The rooms are furnished mondernly and are very spacious, Bose stereo, flat screen TV's and very comfortable beds with fine linnen. The bathroom is similar with L'Occitane ammentites, there is evern great spaces to stow your luggage so as to not make the room look untidy! The rooms have Wifi and are warm with windows that open if you want to brave some of the cold capital city air. Would and have recommeded this as a great place to stay.

This is my third visit to this hotel. The rooms are modern and clean and the location suits businessmen.

The concrete floor is cold on your feet in cold weather so you need to use the slippers provided.

I will stay there again on my next visit.

We moved to this hotel after being disgusted with the facilities at another hotel at 'Capitol Hill'. This place was like another planet. There is an underground car-park leading to lifts which move you up to a fairly commodious and lightly furnished yet opulent lobby. Front-desk staff were pleasant but a little overwhelmed at the time of our arrival. Our room was newish looking, split into two living zones with bedroom and living area divided by an interior wall each with television embedded. There was also a small kitchen and bathroom with high quality fittings and wonderfully comprehensive bathroom packs. Although our balcony looked over the street and the outdoor spill-over from the bar below, the noise cancelling capability of the room was high as Saturday night revellers could be seen but barely heard enjoying themselves. The most important features of any hotel room for me are sleep quality and hot water. Realm delivered in this respect as beds are comfy and edifice installed close to beds enables use of internet without getting up. Food quality is a bit of a lottery as room service meals were a bit hit and miss, especially dinner. We ended up sticking with pizza if we were eating in for dinner as earlier meal choices were frankly not up to par. However, there are a number of restaurants and bars here of a good standard. The hotel is very close to everything and a handy staging point if in Canberra for work.

Room Tip: We didn't have a room with a decent view as we were only there are moving out from another hotel...

I stayed in a one bedroom suite and was overwhelmed by the size of the room. It featured a separate lounge area with couch and dining area, and also a good size kitchenette. The bedroom and bathroom are what you would expect from a quality hotel and the L'Occitane amenities came in handy. It was definitely value for money, but a suite is not necessary for a quick overnight business trip. The service was good and the staff helpful and friendly.
