This is a fairly large restaurant but if you are looking for somewhere to catch up with a friend for dinner mid-week it is excellent. I've never found it crowded mid-week. Consequently it is easy to find a private table and have a good conversation without competing with a lot of noise. Service is pleasant and prompt and good Thai food comes out in a reasonable time. Can always find a good glass of wine to go with it.

The service is friendly and professional and the food can be ordered off the menu. Has a reasonable selection of wines or BYO with a corkage charge. Price is very reasonable. Suggest booking for Friday and Saturday nights

Visited Thai Chiang Rai for dinner on a recent trip to Canberra with family.

Service wise, the restaurant seemed short-staffed for a busy Easter Sunday night. But that aside, overall service was good.

Meals came out relatively quickly. Chose 4 main dishes ranging from beef massaman (which unlike a previous reviewer - we had big chunks of beef - but for me the curry sauce could have been thicker) through to a fish curry which was very tasty.

atmosphere was family friendly. overall experience was good - food isn't an outstanding experience, but given the price ranges on the menu you're not paying for 5 star thai, so on balance you're getting value for money.

I had vegetarian Hokkien Noodles and my friend had Chicken Thai Green Curry. It is BYO and licensed. Seem to have varied menu. Nice atmosphere and pleasant staff.

Started going to Chiang Rai mid 2012 and thought it was really quite good. The massamum beef was tender, creamy and thought it was quite nice. However have visited a few more times after that and I don't think they are even average anymore. It is a little disappointing when your pad thai tastes like bottled sweet chilli and the spring rolls out of a packet. Hopefully they pick up their act soon and improve their food.
