Trip Advisor rarely lets you down - and on this occasion it lived up to that statement! This is a fantastic place to stay with the family. We stayed here for 5 nights in September, room 22, at a total cost of $1195. We had a room with a queen size bed, and another with two singles. There was also a decent foldout sofa bed. These beds all more than adequately catered for our family of 6 (wife, myself and four children under the age of 5 including one infant).
The rooms are brick walled but painted well so you hardly notice they aren't plaster. The décor and furnishing are first class - very nicely appointed and whilst not necessarily your Marriot quality, they are certainly not cheap either - very nice and raise the appearance of the rooms overall. The manager has done a fine job of ensuring the rooms are well furnished to a great standard.
The WiFi was brilliant in our room. Great speed and we did not have a dropout (that I can recall) over the 5 days of our stay (essential as we were house hunting). Well done management on this achievement - and it was free! Absolutely commendable. I didn't ping the service, but it was easily running at ~1-1.5MB/second download, by my reckoning.
The room was spacious, and had everything you needed to fully sustain yourself over the period. Despite some reviews, we found the maids changed all towels daily, in addition to making our beds - nice touches like putting our kids teddy bears on their pillows. This sort of simple stuff counts for impressions, I assure you. All of the service staff were friendly and accommodating, from those we met.
The location is excellent - easy walking distance to the Manuka shops, or to the Kingston shops (avoid the IGA there at the Kingston shops though, it's a rip off - go to the Coles in Manuka instead).
At a cost of approximately $200-250 per night in the middle of Kingston, I challenge you to find better - you could go uptown to somewhere like the Aria and pay another $100 per night…for what? Some more swish furnishings…seriously, why would you? Oh, and the Aria charges Internet at $20 for 24 hours (current rate).
Oxley Court Serviced Apartments - simply the best in town! We WILL be back.
