Owner description: The National Zoo & Aquarium is privately owned and Australia's only combined Zoo and Aquarium. That's 2 attractions in one! We are situated on around 7 hectares of land just five minutes from the centre of Canberra. With a wide variety of both native and exotic animals, as well as the largest inland saltwater tank in Australia, there is something for everyone. Wander in and have a casual stroll around the park, or make a day of it with family, friends and make use of our picnic areas and complimentary BBQ facilities. Our Animal Encounters provide visitors with an opportunity to get up close and personal with some of the worlds most amazing creatures!

All the exhibits should be commended for their cleanliness and massive sizes. Found it hard to believe just how big some of the yards were, could be no complaints from animal activists about cramped conditions! The tiger and lion exhibits were wonderful. Going earlier in the day allowed us to see the giraffe feeding and we were astounded how close they were to the public. There were many walk through areas with emus kangaroos, wallabies, alpacas and deer that you could pat and interact with the animals. Was amazed how tame they were. The emus were great! Think that there is more variety at other zoos, but still definitely a beautiful relaxing place to visit and the animals were all very active and well looked after.

This was a pleasant surprise, I had been there years ago and was surprised to see how much it has changed and grown.
We took 3 grandchildren with us and they had a ball. The only downside was the expense of getting in. But overall a great day.

The Zoo is well laid out and the animals are easy to view.
It makes for a relaxing stroll on a Sunday morning.
All in all a nice way to pass a few hours with a relaxing stroll by the lake.

A great variety of animals and marine life. Love the new expanded area with the large animals and well designed displays. Great BBQ/picnic area to make it a day out for the family.

We have been to almost every Zoo in Australia and this is by far our favourite. The zoo is spacious with plenty of shade and seating along walking tracks.

The animal enclosures are large and we particularly loved the Snow Leopard’s beautiful home. My son loved being able to interact with the kangaroos & wallabies.

The entry price was very reasonable and watching the zoo keepers interact with the animals during feeding/cleaning time was lovely.

We’ll be back!
