Great stay... The room was more like a unit than hotel, so much space. Restaurant was very good: excellent steaks and breakfast buffet. If you book breakfast, they provide a reasonable discount too. Walking distance to the CBD. Fantastic pizza and gelati place around the corner.
Clifton suites is a rare find in Canberra, hotels are usually overpriced and very basic. Clifton Suites provided us a large, well maintained 2 bedroom apartment at a good price. It had everything we needed to self cater for the family in comfort. Check in was very fast, same with check out. Staff friendly. Only quibble was that the room service menu was pretty basic and unappealing. Bed was also a bit uncomfortable, but typical of most hotels in canberra. Otherwise, all in all, a very pleasant stay and I would recommend it to anyone planning a stay in canberra for work or just visiting.
There is plenty of accomodation in Canberra as long as you don't mind paying for it, especially if Parliament is in session. The Clifton Suites are reasonably priced and are good value for money.We come to Canberra quite often, particularly if there is a special exhibition at the National Gallery or for Floriade.
Since discovering the Clifton Suites some time ago we have had no reason to want to stay anywhere else. The apartments are big and have all the amenities that you would require.
Our family of four plus a baby had ample room in a 2 bedroom apartment. A cot was supplied for an extra $10! The apartment was clean and all the appliances and bathroom facilities worked.
Clifton Suites is run efficiently and the reception staff are friendly and helpful. Even though this a popular establishment, we never felt crowded. There are two lifts to every floor so we never had to wait long to get up or down. The parking underneath is more than adequate and we never had to look for long to park our car.
There is a large swimming pool to take a dip during during the summer months and adequate room heating during those freezing Canberra winter days and nights.
The location is great as it is walking distance to the Canberra Centre and just a few minutes by car to Canberra's main attractions.

I really wish I could recommend this place. The rooms are modern and spatious, the kitchen is well equiped and we had some lovely views.
The main and unforgivable problem was that our non-smoking room smelt very strongly of cigarette smoke. When we reported this to reception they sent someone up to spray air freshner. Unfortunately no amount of air freshner or ionising treatment (the other option) will remove the smell. I won't risk coming back in case we get another room that smells as bad.
Spent 4 nights there in Canberra in mid July 2013. Would definitely stay there again. I'd booked a one bed apartment, but they upgraded us to a two bed. It had a full kitchen, TV in the lounge and one in the main bedroom. Main bed had walkthrough robe and bathroom with shower/toilet. The other main bathroom had a shower over the bath, and a washing machine/dryer in a cupboard. Both bathrooms had heated floors. The floor heating meant the bathrooms were warm as the heat rising from the floor warmed the whole space. The main living area had a reverse cycle air conditioner. We turned it on when we arrived and left it on. It maintained a comfortable warmth in the apartment. We left the bedroom door open so the warm air could circulate. There isn't a separate heater in the bedroom. Canberra outside was raining and about 4 degrees. The staff dealt efficiently with a couple of minor issues ( the safe had been left locked and needed resetting/the TV needed to be tuned to improve reception) The apartment was clean and comfortable. We were on level 7 on the Northbourne Ave side. We didn't need to go on the nice sized verandah, but if we did the road noise would have been intrusive. With the doors closed it wasn't noticeable. The bathrooms had energy efficient lights that were slow to turn on and the towel racks are installed over the toilet, which I found odd. The underground parking is good, plenty of spaces and two lifts to take you up to your floor. We had a very enjoyable time and would return.
This place is great. Canberra is a terrible place for hotels and worse for serviced apartments, so finding this place has been fantastic. I travel there for business from time to time, and Canberra is always expensive and uneven. So, I wasn't expecting much from Clifton. I've never stayed here before, but I will again - it really does have it all.
It has undercover parking (plenty), a brilliant room with a full kitchen and a separate bedroom. It also has it's own laundry, fantastic service, comfy beds, good sized TV, and while there is a bit of traffic noise through peak hours, there isn't other than that. Lots of desk room and everything is good quality. I was only there for two nights, but for a week or more it would be perfect! It's very near town (walking distance) and very easy access to the government districts, museums etc.
