“Sparse of vegetation. Not particularly interesting.”
Reviewed June 11, 2012

Like so many places out here one goes along expecting something interesting but it really is empty of any real interest at all. Rather bare, usual kangaroo here and there. I lived in Canberra for 33 years and have been up Black Mountain many times.

“Nice views and the Tower is great for a few minutes but ridiculously overpriced.”
Reviewed June 8, 2012

It's worth a visit if you have visitors and the Botanic Gardens next door are probably better viewing. Forget the restaurant on Black Mountain Tower, its overpriced, and the revolving part is jerky and the tower sways so some guests felt seasick. Food there is reaallllyyyy awful too. The coffee shop has a few souvenirs and rather tired service.

Altogether no more than an hour here but views are great on a sunny day especially if the Captain Cook fountain near Regatta Point on Lake Burley Griffin is on..

“Driving up to see the view of Canberra from Telstra Tower.”
Reviewed June 4, 2012

It's nice to have family picnic gatherings on Black Mountain peninsular. BBQ's and the kids having fun on various play equipment. Many big beautiful gums in natural setting with lake water all around. It's also nice for art groups to do plein air painting.

“Two playgrounds, nice picnic spots”
Reviewed April 13, 2012

This is a nice little spot for a picnic with two playgrounds right next to each other (or one large playground divided into two, depending on how you view it). We enjoyed it, although there are so many fantastic playgrounds/parks in Canberra, we haven't been back yet!
