I went to Elk and Pea on the recommendation of a friend and was glad I did. I enjoyed the share style of the menu and that there were some different and interesting dishes on offer. Every dish we ordered was delicious. Dessert was particularly good - both my chilli chocolate mousse and husband's creme caramel were awesome. I would recommend booking particularly in winter.

Went on a sunday so breakfast menu only. Firstly they mucked up our reservation. Secondly I'm not a fan of sitting on high stools. Had the grande or big breakfast. Fried eggs badly cooked, chorizo so salty it was inedible, beans quite horrid. Good bits were the bacon and mushrooms and excellent coffee. Main problem is that it believes its own trendiness. Avoid.

We had a work breakfast at Elk and Pea this morning which didn't quite live up to expectations. We were seated and orders for coffee taken promptly by a friendly waiter. The breakfast menu looked great with good choices for vegetarians. Unfortunately one of our meals didn't arrive with the other three so we mentioned this to the waitress who said it 'wouldn't be long.' The three of us had more or less finished our meals with still no sign of the fourth meal. Again we asked the waitress who said 'oh yeah, they know about it.' No apology, no offer of a coffee while waiting. Finally the omelette arrived with the egg not completely cooked on top and long after the rest of us had finished our meals.

We ordered another round of coffee and the same waitress took our order. One of our party was brought a latte instead of the requested flat white.

Whilst the interior of the cafe was inviting, the food and service mostly good, the waitress with the indifferent attitude and lack of attention to detail means we will not be visiting again for our next working breakfast.

I enjoyed a brunch with my adult family on a Saturday morning.
The food was generous and delicious. The chorizo served with the Grande (essentially a big breakfast style meal) was wonderful.
The coffee was pretty good.
The place has a great atmosphere and is nicely decorated.
The wait staff were very efficient and friendly.
My main issue with the place was that our meals did not come out together. 2 of us got our meals initially, then two more after about 3 mintues then it was over 10 minutes until the next person got their meal which is just not acceptable particularly at breakfast when the meals have similar cooking times. The restaurant was busy but not packed when we were there.
I will probably be back for the chorizo.

This is a great new place for Canberra with a good vibe and lots of energy. The food was very tasty but a very limited menu. The night was let down by the inconsistent wait staff. There seemed to be three (at least) looking after our table which was very confusing and we heard different versions from each! It would be helpful for the staff to advise on shared meals and quantities, as we under-ordered and were hungry but our plates were taken away before we had a chance to discuss more dishes. On two occasions we were given wine we didn't order. The chocolate and chilli mouse was a big dissappointment. It was tasty but a foam more than any sort of mouse and at $14 was a definite let down. Interestingly, the bill contained the wines we didn't order. This was rectified by staff but without apology Check your bill!
