Owner description: Come to the Mint, where every single Australian coin in the pockets of millions of Australians is made! While wandering through the Mint's observation gallery you can look into the coin production factory and marvel at Titan, one of our great family of robots who help out with all the heavy lifting. Spend some time in the theatrette where a video will take you behind the scenes to explain the fascinating process of making coins. Check out the rare and historically significant coins on show from the National Coin Collection, which is held in the vaults of the Mint. Mint your own collectable coin and browse the Mint Coin Shop where you can find great gifts, mementos of your visit or even start your own collection! We offer free public tours twice daily Monday- Friday and three times daily on the weekends.

Layout of the place was not the greatest and could be improved. Including where you buy food and coins.

Otherwise, the displays are good and informative. Great place to bring the kids for free!

Not much 'hands on' stuff for kids. Doesn't seem like a tourist venue. You have to pay $3 to get $1. Seems unfair.

The kids found this really interesting and it was disappointing that we hadn't allowed enough time to go on the guided tour. Not much hands on, but good to be able to see the workers in action.

I really enjoyed the Royal Australian Mint the exhibits are very interesting showing some of the old coins found in ship wrecks of Australia many before Australia was found. The film that shows us our history of our currency and how our coins are made. Then all the types of coins we have made over the years and the any things that can go wrong in the minting process. A excellent way to spend a day.

We had a teenage guest staying and wanted to cram in as much of Canberra as possible in her flying visit.
We went to the Mint - it was great - something for everyone - however next time we will go Monday to Friday - when you can actually see the staff making coins, etc. They have glass walls and roofs so you can see the staff working - and we missed out on seeing that as we went on a Sunday.
However, it had something for everyone - very interesting items on display, and you could make your own coin, and buy some pieces that ranged in price.
Interesting - we would go back for sure :)
