“Noisy but oh so scrumptious”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 9, 2012 via mobile

Went here for a group function and was informed could only have the table for an hour. So we had to eat and drink quickly.

The food is amazing!! Definitely love the pulled pork and buffalo wings... Especially love the spice temperature choice - mild, hot and suicidal! No joke.

Yes the place is noisy and buzzing with people so it's not a place for a romantic dinner for two but a place to enjoy sensational food.

You need to get in early if you want to get a table but it is worth it. They have a bar so alcohol/drinks are all taken care of.

I will be back for more yumminess.

“BBQ USA Style”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 1, 2012 via mobile

The ribs and pulled pork top the list of a delicious selection of American diner style food. Great salads, disappointing fries and terrific meat - great for the boys in the house. Dressings and sauces complimented the dishes well

“A great place to Meat”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 26, 2012

A group of five of us thought we'd try the new place on the block. With no real idea of what was on offer, we went with no great expectations, but overall were pleasantly surprised. Because we hadn't eaten here before we decided to order the largest platter on offer which came with Pulled Pork (a bit sweet for me, but still good), Brisket (Very tasty and tender), a Half a Kansas Chicken (Yum), pork Ribs (Flavour plus), Beef Rib (Absolutely Awesome),and chicken wings (Nice if you don't mind the slight vinegar flavour of hot wings). We also had side dishes of Potato Salad (Creamy yum), Fries (Not to our liking with too much seasoning for us), Macaroni Cheese (Dry rather than saucy, but three of us loved it) and Street Corn (on the cob loaded with cheese (Yummmmmm!) all this served with small squares of what I think was corn bread (A bit dry for me) and small whole pickles (Quite nice to clean the pallet between meats) - All up we paid $109 for the food and all walked out having eaten our fill, so for about $22 each we had a really nice and different meal. The paper towels on the table were a great idea with most of the eating being done with hands. The staff were great, the service fast and atmosphere very laid back and friendly. The night was a little warm and they perhaps could have turned the air-con up a bit, but overall we had a great night. If you like American style food, give this a try.

“Noisy meaty deliciousness”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 25, 2012 via mobile

Smoque has an incredible array of meat dishes. We ordered one of the platters for a group of us, and it was the perfect food to share. It's noisy because it's packed full of people, but the food is good and it's a great venue to have dinner with your friends. Don't take an vegetarians with you.

“Something different with tasty meals and loads of activity”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 18, 2012 via mobile

I was looking forward to eating at Smoque and overall i was not dissapointed. Food was tasty with spicey and/or smokey flavour. The only thing i was a bit let down by was the mac and cheese - didnt taste that cheesey. The wine list was limited by the glass but a noisy place where you eat at the bar watching wrestling on a big tv is not likely to have the best wine list i town. Sat night is likely their busiest night and as you cant book we wre told there would be a 20 min wait and i was nicely surprised when the maitre'd called us within 30 mins to tell us our table was ready.

Next time i will leave room for the bacon icecream. The pork tibs, pulled pork and brisket were all delicious. We will be back in 6 months or so.

I did find the business model of maximising covers by getting people in and out quickly quite obvious - the two gurls bext to us were veing politely hurried up to leave after hovering over the remainder of their meal tray for about 45 mins.

the one thing that surprised me was the "we recommend you eat with your hands" statement - thats ok (but messy) for chicken wings and ribs but just not practical for mac and cheese and coleslaw. Again, i think a method of limiting the cutlery they need to wash up!
