Staying in Canberra for the weekend and wanted to be close to Manuka. East is only a two min walk to the Manuka shops and restaurants. We booked a package that included accom in a one bedroom apartment plus dinner and breakfast which was only $10 per night more than the discounted room rate! We thought we'd eat at the hotel the first night and go out the second night, however dinner at OX restaurant was excellent so we went both nights. The meal consisted of seven delicious courses plus sides, so much food, we couldn't eat it all. Good wine list and great service. Breakfast was light continental and I especially liked the soft boiled "dippy" eggs. The only gripe I have is that there are two sittings for dinner at the restaurant (which we weren't made aware of when booking) and we were booked in for 6pm both nights without consultation. Luckily the restaurant agreed to change us to the 8pm sitting. All we had to pay for was our wine. The apartment was excellent, spacious and modern, I could live there. The king bed was firm but super comfy. Very well equipped kitchen and decent glassware. No bath but lovely bathroom. We liked it so much we booked a third night. Highly recommend.

We stayed in a 1 bed apartment with 2 kids aged 9 and 11 for 2 nights. The kitchen was very well furnished, loved having the nespresso machine. There was a washing machine and tumble drier. There was 1 king bed and a sofa bed - this only suited us because we had camping gear with us and were able to set up a bed for one of the kids with the other on the sofa bed. The decor throughout was gorgeous and the public areas also. The restaurant was good but nothing for kids unless they have sophisticated tastes. I suggest walking 10 minutes up the road where there is about 10 restaurants in all cuisine styles. The hotel is very central and you can walk/cycle through Telopia Park to the lake. Overall I would say that it is a great place to stay for a couple of days of if you are working in Canberra....fabulous!

The East Hotel is a welcome addition to Canberra's accommodation scene.
It's perfectly located between Kingston and Manuka.
The whole hotel, including its rooms are very funky and very well laid out.
Very good value for the price too.
Breakfast remains a disappointment. Continental only, and not much on offer.
The Nespresso machine in the rooms and at breakfast is great, trouble is in the restaurant not everyone knows how to use it.
The staff are friendly, the decor modern, the rooms are clean - it's my new choice to stay in Canberra.

Was taken to room early, the room was spacious, modern and stylish with great appliances like coffee machine. Dinner and breakfast at Ox was delicious, especially the banquet. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Cool in Canberra doesnt really relate to hotels, or much in Canberra, Thats why EAST is such a surprise! It’s tempting to slink ourselves into a Clockwork Orange chairs, take a handful of complimentary candies from the three Alessi jars and settle in for the evening watching a live wall of video art from Machu Picchu images to Poppies. But that's just the reception. Our luxury apartment has all the mod cons you would expect. If you have families you can get a few apartments as they can be opened up into one. For us the highlight was OX eatery. Normally you avoid hotel restaurants, but EAST is one of the reasons to stay, so make sure you book a table, its packed every night with good reason. See more at Lawsonsview....Great design, great concept, service and originality.

Room Tip: get the corner suites for the best view

We stayed for only one night at this hotel, but could have happily stayed for a month! Our one bedroom room had everything you needed, a fully equipped kitchenette, that didn't impose on the living space, a great bathroom, a balcony and great furnishings oh, and as we were leaving I opened one more cupboard and discovered a washing machine and dryer. We didn't eat in the hotel as we walked over to Manuka for breakfast which was really easy to do. Lots of great places on your doorstep. There are also clever technical features which I noted, but didn't get time to really check out. A really great find.

My husband & I were invited to stay here as part of a Canberra Tourism campaign last year and I was blown away by how modern, comfortable and luxurious the rooms were - nearly everyone who stayed here with us was heard to declare "my room is nicer than my own house" - it sure is nicer than my house. The furniture in the room is the designer stuff but oh so comfortable. The buffet breakfast was also lovely - different.

Room Tip: I would ask for a room at the back of the hotel, that does not overlook the pub across the road. We...
