This hotel is only 2 months old and was a great choice if you are staying in Canberra a few days.
The rooms are large and well fitted plus we had a deluxe studio which had a bath so it was a great choice.
Staff are very friendly and the restaurant attached is a great spot for breakfast.
The location of the hotel is superb as the Manuka shops are only a 3 minute walk and has a great choice of restaurants.
One needs a car in Canberra anyway but this hotel is close to all the main sights .
Overall a top choice !

Stayed here on the 8th October, hotel is only two months old, so everything new , the rooms are very well appointed, comfy king size beds, a great kitchen with every you need to cook a meal. There were just two negatives, there was a problem with the wifi a bit hit and miss, and we had a continental Brekkie in the cafe, minimal at best, service was rubbish, we weren't even offered a second coffee and then the insult came, twenty three dollars a head, that was a killer! And it was close to everything, just a few tweaks and they should get it.

Hello Dianne,

Thank you for the valuable feedback! Shortly after your stay we had our IT technicians here (and consequently the manufacturers of some of our networking equipment) and I'm happy to say the internet issues are resolved!

We also work very closely with the owners of Ox, and I believe you'll find the breakfast selection and appearance has improved, and as of Monday, they have changed the price of the their gourmet continental breakfast offering to $15.

We look forward to seeing you back soon!

I had such a woderful stay at the East hotel with friends over the weekend. The location is fantastic, with all the sights right at your door step. We never took the car out of the car park!

It is minutes away to the upmarket village of Manuka, with fab restaurants, boutiques and shops.

The lake is also a short distance away were we stolled, enjoying the views of this beautiful green space with blossom trees in full bloom. A great place to go bike riding.

The hotel itself is divine, we did not want to leave! It is modern, funky but also really warm and comforting, a place you can truly relax. The grey sofas in the lobby are so cofortable, a perfect place to read a book or enjoy the amazing photography display being projected onto the centre wall. There is also a cosy fire in this spot, for the cooler days….bliss!

There has been so much thought put into this hotel, it is very clear everywhere you turn. Comfort, relaxation and style.

The apartments have everything you need, more then any other apartment I have stayed in before. The kitchen has an oven, dishwasher, a nespresso coffee machine, all the kitchen utensils and equipment you could possible need, a well stocked mini bar at very reasonable prizes and also has a washer/dryer.

The bathrooms are beautiful and contain gorgeous smelling organic toiletties. The toilet and shower have a frosted screen door for added privacy which is perfect when sharing with a friend.

The living and dining area is beatuifully furnished with modern, colourful and comfortable pieces. Our balcoming to the right of the living area provided a funky comfortable outdoor setting.

The bedroom with sliding privacy doors contained two comfortable single beds, staff kindly split the bed for my friend and I. All windows have black out blinds which is perfect for those beautiful sleep ins!

The staff are warm, friendly and lots of fun, nothing is too much trouble.

We ate breakfast at OX eatery which was perfect, beautiful home made bircher museli, deicous yalla yoghurt pots, breads, fruit, danishes etc. There is no expense spared it is all quality , delicous food. The coffee is also the best in town!

We had a fun evening meal at the OX eatery, the atmosphere was great and so was the food. We shared plates of various starters, my favouite being the chicken, chilli bun and then we enjoyed delicous meats from the rotisserie along side fresh green salad and vegetables. Topped off with a delcious blueberry desert….yum!

The bar is also a very happening place with the best champagne cocktail I have ever had, made with fragrant soaked cherries….delicous!

I can’t wait to visit again and take my family with me next time. It is a perfect hotel for families also, especially with the location to all the sights for the kids but also the space in the apartment which offers parents some privacy.

Stay at East hotel, you will have a wonderful time!

I just had the best weekend in Canberra that I have ever experienced which was for the most part due to the special vibe generated by this exciting hotel. The interior is stylish but warm- the chairs/ sofas in every public space and room enticed you to stay and enjoy your space. The kitchens are well fitted out and every crevice speaks of being exceptionally well thought out - small touches like a rail to hang your towel outside the door to the shower are inspired.
The room is peaceful and so roomy that you feel like you are not in a hotel but a small home- I slept so well - there was no noise and no light to creeping through to wake me.
The gym equipment is great and while not being large has everything you need.
The Ox Eatery is funky and the food was so good we saw no need to venture outside. I loved the low key breakfast with something for everyone. The staff were all enthusiastic , helpful and genuinely interested in assisting. I will definitely be heading back there.

My husband and I normally stay at Realm but we thought we would try the East hotel on the weekend because the location was more convenient. We were quoted $245 on the website when we made our booking, but on checkout we were charged $275! And when we tried to argue we were met with attitude by the young man and girl behind the counter. Our room was small and did not include a balcony, or breakfast and we had to pay an extra $10 for parking, despite the fact that there is free street parking all around Kingston. We asked why and the guy sneered at us and said "That's just our policy." The Realm has better, bigger rooms, free parking, breakfast, and lovely service at better prices. The East hotel is overpriced, serviced by teenagers with attitude, and terrible value overall (and the decor is not great). We will never come back and will not recommend it to anyone.

Dear Goodtraveller3,

I am intrigued and disappointed to hear of your feedback as this is very contrary to the experience (and prices) we provide.

It does sound like you describe an East Studio, our entry-level room which measures at approximately 30 m2 and features a kitchenette, good sized bathroom, executive desk and dining table and chairs - however this is the ONLY room category with no balcony.

Our room categories grow from there in size from 41 - 60+m2 all with balconies and either kitchenettes or full kitchens (and laundries!) and spacious seating areas. Mind you, all of our studios and apartments are fully equipped with utensils too.

As parking is limited here in Kingston, and to park in our underground secure parking garage, there is a nominal charge of $10. This is posted on the internet and as you drive in. This is in-line, or more economical, with all other hotels in town.

I would cherish the opportunity to speak with you to discuss your comments. However, in the meantime, you're probably at the other hotel you keep mentioning.

Best Regards,

Todd Handy
