If you are into banned books, the mystery of Howard Holt's disappearance, the history of Federation and the history of immigration policy amongst many many other things...you need to visit this place. Our young female guide was lovely and handled the kids well on our school trip. Very educational but also fun and definitely enlightening.

A nice little museum that has some interesting exhibits. Friendly staff and lots of quirky stuff. Enjoyed it.

“Amazing Place”
Reviewed August 19, 2012

We visited to see what was there - and were amazed at the wonderful displays - and the extreemely helpful and patient staff member who greeted me on entering the research area - and I left with more information about my father and grandfather and, a request was submitted for detailed records!

“Wonderful Place”
Reviewed July 11, 2012

We were invited there to view the ship's list of POW's on the Montevideo Maru, while in Canberra for the dedication of the Memorial on 1st July. Everyone was very helpful and made sure that we got the information that we were after. All the exhibits were great, especially the Artarctica one, and we were given information on where to search on the net when we went home. My husband really enjoyed the Antarctica exhibit and is going to check the site that they gave us for more info.

“A lively archive”
Reviewed June 2, 2012

Special exhibitions at the archive often rate a visit. This one was on Australia's involvement with Antarctica and was greatly enjoyed by 3 generations of our family.
