“Loved the Kit Kats”
Reviewed January 2, 2012

It was the best value apartment I ever had in Canberra. I have stayed in many places in Canberra including CEA once before. At that time I could not wait to leave as it was dark and dingy and I remembered the lack of fresh air in the apartment.

This time I had a beautiful queen and single bed with a good kitchen, full sized fridge and a small bar fridge full of mini bar items. Mini bar prices were very reasonable. I loved the complimentary Kit Kats and there were enough milk to make several cups of coffee/tea/hot chocolate. There was an ironing board, iron, extra pillows and blankets in the cupboard. Storage space was very good.

The bathroom had good hot & cold showers and the complimentary products were generous. And hooks to hand up your towels and clothes.

The flat screen had 2 channels with complimentary movies, plus the usual channels. Beds were extremely confortable.

The room was spacious with a small balcony and it was not noisy although we were almost on top of The Haigh Restaurant. We did not try the restaurant but it seemed very popular. There was a 10% discount for house guests. Breakfast was advertised at $15 per person but house guests paid $25 for two. It was good value for a breakfast of cereals, scrambled eggs, bacon & sausages, small selection of fruits & breads, yoghurt and bottomless coffee/tea/fruit juice.

It was walking distance to the City Centre and there was undercover parking.

It is rare that the both rooms and service were excellent but I thoroughly recommend CEA . Based on the price of $99, I would definitely return.

This may be an older establishment and self-rated but for the price you will get a clean room, adequate ameneties, top location and good service for which you would have to pay top dollar elsewhere. Restaurant below is good too and serves good quality well priced food with a smile. Only judge a book by its cover at your cost.

Pleasantly suprised this budget friendly hotel was very good and i would say better or on par with my previous much more expensive stays at rydges and novotel. Bed was new and comfy new carpet, new style fujisu split air conditioning, in addition to reasonably priced mini bar fridge there was a decent size compact fridge freezer which you could put frozen meals or ice cream in. New but a tad on the small size LCD TV with new release DVD movies showing at certain times. Room also had a small kitchenette with microwave which we never used but would be handy if travelling with children. Brand new sofa pull out lounge. Booked through wot if and got room for $115.00. You could hear a bit of traffic but is to be expected in city we live on a farm so not used to it. Free undercover parking and breakfast was a reasonable $15 ea which included cereals, toast, coffees, juices, bacon, scrambled eggs, mini sausages, crossonts and fruit and yogurt. About three blocks easy walk to civic centre, bus stop near front would def stay here again

Our family of five stayed here on our way to the snow. It was an older hotel. Bathroom good size and kids loved the spa. It was very cozy in our room - one single bed, a double bed and a set of bunks in the space of what we would normally have had a double and a single. I may have misread the room information - next time I'd book a room with the double bed in another room. We went to sleep at 7.30pm as the kids were in the same room asleep so couldn't really watch tv either.

Breakfast was quite good - buy it with your room - much cheaper option.

Parking - roof is very low, so our 4WD with skis wouldn't fit - we parked around the corner. Not sure the car would have fitted even with the ski racks off!

Kit kats were great!

I use this hotel a lot on business trips to Civic (the central bit of Canberra - north of the Lake). This hotel is clean but showing its age. The rooms are comfortable althought like most apartment hotels I find I "rattle around" in them a bit.

The beds are comfortable and breakfast is a good selection of reasonable quality serve-yourself fare. The TV has limited access to cable TV channels. It self rates as a four star hotel - this is a bit of an exageration, but it is a comfortable three star. This place is not the place you will meet hip people...

The strong points of this hotel is the good value for money (even as a three star) and its proximity to Civic and Lonsdale street with a nice selection of good restaurants and cafes nearby. If you are so inclined there is a good run available through Haig Park right next door. The food in the restaurant is good if a little overpriced and the staff seem inexperienced but helpful.

I wouldn't recommend it for travel with significant others or family but it is good for solo business travel.

i have stayed at this hotel twice this year for both business and for pleasure. It is a clean, comfortable, conveniently located hotel with friendly staff . It is easy walking distance to Civic and overlooks parklands (across the road). Recommended

Room Tip: They offer an intriguingly named 'Cuddle & bubble package'.

after reading the reviews here i was expecting a fawlty towers like stay. what we received was normal, helpful and courteous service from the staff, and clean presentable rooms. there were no dead animals or muck in the bathrooms, the roof didnt leak, and i got to park at the front door. the 4 bed room was big enough for three guys and our bikes....
and no one mentioned how close it is to Canberra restaurant district.

Room Tip: back right corner - away from the main road
