“MAYBE TRY AGAIN.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 2, 2009

the bathrooms are terribly small. the location is good.........BUT it's in a residential area, and for 4 of the 5 nights i stayed there, somebodys dog barked all night. not the motels fault...but it was clearly heard with doors and windows shut. might stay again........if there is no dogs..

The motel is in a lovely tree lined street off the main drag which meant it was very quiet. There were quite a few guests staying at the motel but we did not here any noise which was great. We booked the business B & B package. The room had been nicely refurbished, it had a queen and one single, a desk table, desk chair and two other chairs. The bathroom was a reasonable size and excellently fitted out. We had the continental buffet breakfast in the breakfast room where the service and food were very pleasant. Overall a very nice stay and would recommend it.

We had a pleasant stay at this motel. Service was good and the breakfast was terrific. Our standard motel room was smaller than we would have liked for 2 people. Very little room in the bathroom. Okay for a short stay. It was clean, tidy and modern with easy off-street parking.

Just got back from a long weekend in Canberra visiting the Floriate and stayed at Tall Trees. The motel is located close to the city and if you have a car, there is no problem with getting to where you want to go. My parents stayed in an adjoining room and both our rooms/bathrooms were extremely clean and so was the motel in general. For the price, all in all we did well and have no complaints. If your not looking to spend a lot of money and want clean and comfortable, this is the place to stay.

  • Liked — How clean it was and how close it was to the city
  • Disliked — Not enough off street parking because of renovations

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 3, 2008

I was a bit worried about staying here because of the other reviews, but upon our arrival at reception soon realised that the other reviewers might have been a bit too fussy. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was a good size for two people, the bathroom was very nice, and everything else in the room was what we expected. In the morning the breakfast that we had ordered was more than we had hoped for. With the position of the motel it was perfect for our visit to the war memorial and the other attractions of Canberra. In future i dont think i will pay much attention to the whinging of a few spoilt people.

Definitely a fairly dated property, but was perfect for our family stay. Spacious room, laundry facilities, and pool worked out well for our extended 2-week stay.

I booked this hotel because it advertised
itself on the best western site as
a 4 Star hotel.

I've based my above rating of 1 star on
this statement. There is nothing wrong
with the hotel per se at all. It's just
that is more like an econolodge (a clean
1.5-2.0 star chain in the U.S.).

What got me annoyed, is that technically
they can claim its a four star because
it did have most of the four star requirements
(i.e. mini-bar, individual climate control
for each room, laundry service etc.).

However, it had nothing of the other
"intangible" requirements of a four star.
As the previous reviewer said, the wash basin
is small (literally 2 foot wide) with no storage
area what-so-ever. The furniture was old
and of the cheap veneer laminate found at
k-mart/walmart/target.

Overall, a reasonable 2 star hotel, but not
a 4 star. Don't pay more than A$100 per night
there are other places that are far better
for that price.

The older receptionist is a bit of a pain I
agree, but she is willing to negotiate on
price, just ask and ask and ask and eventually
she gives in. My first night was A$100 and
for the second night it got dropped to A$75.
