Owner description: We are Australia's 'living' archive – the custodian of over 2.3 million items that we not only collect, but preserve for future generations and share in many diverse ways. Watch a film at Arc Cinema, attend special events in our Theatrette, or explore one of Canberra's most beautiful Art Deco buildings.

There are lots of national institutions in Canberra covering lots of different areas of society.

The NFSA is very small and takes about 1/2 hour to explore comprehensively. The volunteers were friendly and the displays were interesting, but it needs to be much much bigger to sustain interest.

How quickly one can forget what we used to watch or listen to. What an amazing wealth of entertainment bridging all aspects of the Australian entertainment world. The Neighbours special Wedding go Kylie what a beautiful bride. A treasure trove of memories

Try it out if you are a fan of old movies. The old fashion cinema, the price, and selection of movies will definitely bring you back to the 60s. Check their website for movies on show which may be made before you're born!

This place is nice little archive of sound and film and given that its free - you cant complain much. However, it would be nice to see them change their displays around now and then...as it is, it's only worth a visit once every 5 years because little changes in that time.
