“Good Weekend”
Reviewed March 13, 2013

A nice large clean room with pleasant outlook. King size bed comfortable and furnishings well maintained. Bathroom a bit dated but hotel room more modern. Breakfast enjoyable and staff pleasant. Good facilities and large lounge areas with pleasant outlooks. Hotel located in area convenient to everything. Kingston which has great restaurants is only a 5 min drive away.

Had a package deal for the Toulouse Lautrec exhibition which was very good value.

Only downside, need more staff at reception at times. Long delay waiting to check in with a number of people standing in reception before second staff member came on duty.

Room Tip: A room facing the street and away from the atrium might ensure one has a peaceful night.

I love a great sleep in a Hotel bed – Bliss!

Thanks for the helpful feedback regarding staff levels. Typically we have 2 staff on the desk at all times – they may have to leave for short periods which I suspect is what happened when you arrived. Having said that Saturdays can very busy so in future we will be rostering a 3rd person for peak times.

Sadly Toulouse Lautrec finishes in April; good news is there is a large Turner Exhibition commencing in June which I think will be fantastic.

We’re working to improve breakfast as a priority and the pool is certainly a great asset, great to see you enjoyed both.

See you next visit.

Nice big room, tidy, clean. Easy walk to resteraunts and open spaces. Friendly staff. Walk to Manuka through surrounding suburbs is very nice, very pleasant location for a stay in the Capital.
So far hav only sampled the bar, but have prebooked breakfast. Indoor pool is a nice size. Will have a swim in the morning.

A nice big, tidy & clean room is a great start. Manuka is a short easy stroll away, with a decent Cinema and interesting shopping – I was a fan of the area before I came to live here.

I hope you enjoyed breakfast, we’re working hard to improve it’s so important for us to get that right as well.

Thanks for your kind comments regarding staff, I hope we see you back soon.

My wife & I have just spent a weekend at Rydges Capital Hill, Canberra. It wasn't our first visit to the hotel, this would have to be one of our favourite hotels. The staff are great, we found the room we had was a decent size and was well maintained throughout our stay. Within the hotel is immaculate and very peaceful. We would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to our family & friends. The both of us can't wait to stay at the hotel again.

We stayed in a King size room with Spa and the room was very clean and modern.
Spa was clean and no foreign objects found. Spa and Shower where big enough for 2.
We ordered 2 pizza's via room service which where yummy and fairly cheap.
The onsite morning Breakfast was good with a buffet style layout with quality food.
Our room had a little kitchenette which was nice and clean.
As this was a proper Hotel, I find it very hard to fault it.

Room Tip: Be weary that parking onsite is not free. The King size Spa Rooms have split level floor where the...

Excellent choice, the King Spa Suite is my pick too and usually only $20-$40 more than Queen rooms with a really GREAT bathroom.

Thanks for the positive review, I’m pleased we looked after you so well please visit again soon.

We chose this hotel simply because it was close to Questacon, where we wanted to go. It was very disappointing. Firstly quite costly. The rooms were badly in need of re-decorating, they looked at least 20 years old. There were no in house movies, and we had no milk in our bar fridge for tea/coffee. Also we didn't get the wake up call we ordered. The only saving grace was the restaurant. It was excellent.

While it’s great to be close to Questacon and have a good restaurant, poor service is never acceptable please accept my sincere apologies for the lapses in other areas.

I’m confused by the comment regarding 20 year old rooms - not sure when you stayed?
We completed a bedroom refurbishment 2 weeks ago; recent photographs on this website are accurate.

Costly, yes ..... at peak times. However rates vary a bit, I’d encourage readers to book ahead for the best deal, 2 weeks from now over Easter our room rate is $175 including breakfast and parking.

All up pretty disappointing experience for you. If you are contemplating a return visit please email me directly as I would very much like to ensure you get the best value and the stay is up to expectation.

I have stayed at Rydges Capital Hill twice in the past 12 months as it well located for visiting government departments. The rooms are well maintained, the beds are comfortable and the location is quiet, so a good nights sleep is assured.

My only complaint is that the hotel charges an addition fee to use the health club, which is really only some weights, and standard exercise equipment. Given that the hotel is not within the budget category, I think it was a bit disappointing to be charged an addition $16 for two half hour runs on a treadmill. (will run around the roads next time)

I note your concerns regarding paying for the Gym, it’s a difficult call - absorb the cost or “user pays”..... we’re open to discussion, feel free to email me when you have booked again.

On the other hand thank you for the mostly positive rating, I hope you visit us again soon.

Thanks very much for your positive comments on the Atrium and spacious rooms.

Booking early certainly works, especially when we are busy midweek – well done on getting one of our great deals it’s a fantastic part of Canberra so close to Parliament, Art Gallery and Museums.

Thanks again, please visit soon.
