My wife and I stayed 3 nights at the Forrest Hotel in March. We paid $145 per night for the privilege. The room was adequate for our needs but it was starting to show its age in general wear and tear. The bathroom was "compact" to say the least. On the positive side it has a great location. The Manuka restaurant area is only a 10 minute walk away and it is only a 3 minute drive to the parliament section of Canberra----National Gallery of Art, The High Court, Archives Musuem, old and new parliament house etc. The room had a double door access to the adjacent room-- my unlocked door opened easily so I assume so does the other.-- security could be an issue.
Would stay there again but only for central location.

Room Tip: Canberra's motels seem to drop in price on weekends and then jump back to the normal rates from Monday to Friday. So if you are only staying for a few days try the weekend (it's also much quieter).

If you like staying in cupboard sized rooms with no sound proofing, then Forrest Hotel and Apartments is just the place. Clean, but incredibly uncomfortable. Once was enough for us.

Room Tip: Find somewhere else.

The review entitled "Worst place I have ever stayed" says it all.
The accommodation we booked was at "The Forrest Apartments".
We checked in and were given directions to the "Albany Apartments", a block away.
We had stayed at the Albany in 2003 and vowed then never to return. What a 'nice' surprise to see the sign "Albany Apartments" as we parked (bearing in mind that the keys we were given had "Forrest Apartments" on the tag. Nothing had changed, except for the normal decline 9 years can cause. The kindest way to describe the place is that it looked like an accomodation block that you would have found in the 60's at an immigration hostel, and the facilities match the description. Nothing like the depiction given on the website. As for "pool and gym", after a bit of searching, you find that they are "available, ...... for a small fee" at the Rydges Hotel about two blocks away.
It didn't get any better. The restaurant is not opened Friday, Saturday or Sunday nights, and breakfast is not available Sunday mornings.
On the upside, it is very handy to cafes and supermarkets, and there is a liscenced club next door, and Parliament House is an easy walk away. The front office people were also very pleasant.
We had booked the accommodation with a "No Cancellation" clause. If not for that we would have asked for money back and happily paid twice as much somewhere else. We were not so much disappointed with the place, more a feeling that we had been conned.

Room Tip: Find another hotel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stayed here because it was close to Parliament House. Big mistake! The rooms are so small that you cannot sit 2 at the small table without one of you having to move if the other wants to go to the bathroom or outside. The bathroom is tiny and I think I bruised my elbows whilst drying myself. The toilet bowl was badly stained in my room. Have to pay for internet access. Only thing in the fridge was milk and 2 bottles of water, if you wanted anything else you had to go to the office. The first motel I have come across where the restaurant is closed on Friday and Saturday nights, and the nearest eateries are 1 Km away or a small club next door. Not good if you didn't have a car like a lot of us. Good breakfast first morning, but cold the 2nd as they forgot to turn on the bain maree's. Staff very friendly, but wouldn't recommend it for more than emergency accommodation.

Room Tip: Go to another motel
