“Nothing flashy”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 25, 2011

Only stayed here for 1 night in Canberra. The design of the apartment was quite odd, the front door enters in the main bedroom where there is a desk, small tv and queen sized bed. Another door leads into the second bedroom which also has a desk, small tv and fold out bed. In the second room is oddly, the kitchen divided by a wall. The rooms were clean, and it was nice to have a desk in my room and watched some television from it. The bathroom was clean and appeared quite new. I wouldn't stay for a long period of time but it was adequate for 1 nights stay. Eating areas were close by (but very very expensive to eat in Canberra) Parliament house was close by as well as the city. It's an alright place in my experience. Cheers and happy travelling.

Unexpected...location. Our 2 bedroom apartment was a street back from where the Forrest Inn is actually located. The photos on the website depict sleek looking accommodation, while we were put in a 2 story red brick old school block of units that were shared by visitors and residents.
On the upside, it was clean and an easy walk to Manuka for dinner and drinks. This is the most redeeming feature of the 'inn'. Manuka is a nice little place with plenty of dinner options.

Stayed here one night for work in November. Rooms are very small with a very hard bed. Bathroom is tiny but fairly clean. Only stay if this what your budget can afford. Fairly close to city with parking

We paid $185 per night for a 2 bedroom apartment. The lounge room seemed to have been renovated with a new lounge suite and flat tv mounted to the wall. The laundry also had the latest washing machine and dryer. However, the rest of the apartment was very old. Our bathroom had pink and grey tiles like you would have seen 30 years ago. The 'bath' was a small square shape that you would be lucky to fit a toddler into and was cracked. The bedrooms were very small with barely any room to move. Would not reccommend this hotel and won't be going back.

We had very welcoming hosts at all our hotels/motels including big chains until we got here. The room was cramped with no facilities and the toilet was stained. The only good thing was that there was a nice club around the corner for our evening meals. The place needs some investment!

I think the pictures of the hotel on the website should ensure that there aren't too many suprises, you aren't booking a four seasons hotel.. the hotel is basically an old motel which has been refurbished over the past 5 or so years however I had no qualms as it was clean, the breakfast was nice (buffet..) and the service at reception was good. The location is good being only a 10 or so minute walk to Parliament house and Manuka shops. We purchased our rooms via wotif.com with breakfast included. I don't go to Canberra often and the only reason i wouldn't stay here again is to be closer to the CBD (which isn't far from the hotel anyway). Canberra is small, accomodation is expensive and you aren't far away from anything so I would have no hesitation recommending this hotel.

Unfortunately i stayed in the oldest section of this hotel and the walls were made of paper, my radio alarm clock didn't work and my bedside had a decided lean to it. I arrived into Canberra on the evening flight and only just made it to the hotel before reception closed. The staff member on duty couldn't get me out of reception quick enough. To top it all off i left my phone charger behind and when i rang the next day to see if they could check if it was still in my room i had the distinct feeling that there was no way that was going to happen. You guessed it, no phone call back advising one way or the other. I visit Canberra regularly and will never stay here again. I've also passed my experience onto my colleagues. It's a shame really because it is in ideal location. Needless to say i was extremely disappointed.
