Spend about 2 hours here. See the Senate and the House of Representatives. Lots of famous paintings. Nice shop. Not to be missed.

We are relatively new to living in Australia and have visited several state parliament buildings, but were very impressed by the Federal Parliament building and the tour we had. Unfortunately the houses were not in session, but the tour guide was informative, lively and interesting. The building itself is suitably grand and imposing, though rather sterile for my taste architecturally. It has a wonderful position overlooking the city, with a vista down to the War Memorial some distance away.

Unfortuanately the day we went here the M.P.s were not sitting so we are unable to see the parliament in action such as at question time. However we were so impressed by our guide who gave us a wonderful insight into how the Australian Parliament functions. We saw into both houses of parliament and now have a good understanding of the procedures in each. If you are the least bit interseted in the workings of a parliament this is a "must visit" place.

We arrived and parked in the under ground carpark at ease...then took the spiral stairs up into the sunshine. The building is really impressive, with tremendous views down the mall ....the fountain at the front with the running water is a lovely feature....
I was searched and drug tested on entry, but that is a small price to pay for security and safety....What an informative two hours we spent in here. Having access to both galleries for the houses was amazing. Something not done in the UK lightly....gave the public the sence of understanding of the governments work here....we learnt more about the history and workings in a very short time....thank you...

This is well set up for the tourist, national and international visitors. Great to have access to the galleries for both 'houses' and other exhibits are also interesting to view. The views from the top (exit outside from the elevators) are great and not to be missed. Recommended as part of a visit to the nations Capital.
