The War Memorial isn't just a memorial, it's also a massive, interesting museum compete with sound and light shows and well worth dedicating some time towards. It's also not just a place for adults, there's a kids area which is superb and is hands on for the kids. The kiddies can 'fly' a helicopter, steer a submarine, and crawl through some very g rated trench/caverns.

If you can, stay for the 5pm memorial service. They tell you a story of one of Australia's war heros and its a good reminder as to what it's all about.

From all war memorials I've visited, and I 've seen some, this one absolutely is the most impressive. It commemorates every Australian in every war. It's hard to explain. Go and see it. Take your time...take your time. I've spend two days there and I still have to go back to visit the outdoor exibitions and displays. From the memorial you can walk over the parade and you look straight at the parliament...in reverse, the parliament has always in sight those of there citizans they've sent away....Never before I saw a museum ore memorial that is created with the utmost respect and is that impressive that it makes you very respectfull for all lost lifes in any war. don't mis the taptoe just before closing time...a quilt waring piper playing "flowers of the forest". When you enter the front gate you'll pass the original lions who once stood at the Menin gate in Ypres...the thousands of popies in the galerie.....Oh I'm just going to shut up....just go there....even when you're not interested...you will be when you've been there!
