Basically set up as a showcase of the varying Australian environments, these gardens have a series of pathways and elevated walkways that will take you through Rainforest, desert and wetland enviornments with some sections of the more formal variety. Free to enter, just a parking charge if you have a car, there is a nice little cafe and gift shop on site. Set on the side of Black Mountain, there are some steep hilly sections but the pathways are paved throughout. well worth a visit.

A lot of different gardens all in one. From rainforests, to the red centre, there are plants from all parts of Australia.
They say the main path takes around 40 minutes, but I'd recommend double that for the main path, and more like 2.5 hours to see everything.

Very enjoyable stretch if the legs

This is a wonderful place presenting only Australian plants in all their varieties, shapes, sizes, colours and quirks. They've created a number of different areas representative of the different landscapes of Australia - desert, rock gardens, rainforest fully and of course Eucalyptus trees. The main path is a good 40+ minute circuit depending on photos and meandering. I also did the guided walk with an enthusiast who made the science of plants come alive with her dynamic presentation and visual aids. Wonderful restaurant from which to enjoy lunch (Pumpkin fritters were delicious!) and from here I walked to the National Museum about 15-20 minutes away. A day of walking amidst the flora and birdlife of Australia.

Although these Botanic Gardens follow similar structure as other Botanics around the world, they let you understand how nature is in different Australian regions with a special section dedicated to the desert. Very interesting!
