If you want to see some amazing and iconic art you will have plenty to admire. Parking a dream ,classic australian bush feel outside and I loved the grassy dome , make sure to go inside it.

“Mixed feelings”
Reviewed May 4, 2013

We joined a tour and looked at Sydney Nolan's paintings of Ned Kelly, they look good all together in a disiplay as you get the whole picture but I wouldn't want any single one on my wall, this is the right place for them. The aboriginal collections were really good and Loved the totem pole coffins on the ground floor which was their war memorial (Mind you the enemy was the Europeans who invaded their land)., Entry was free

“Stop and take a look !”
Reviewed April 30, 2013

You feel like you are being watched by security constantly...annoying ! the displays are good and the sculpture garden was nice outside along the back drop of Lake Burley Griffin. The Didigeridoo display in the front of the Gallery was impressive.

“PRETTY AVERAGE”
Reviewed April 26, 2013

Makes a lot out of not very much and doesn't compare well with many provincial galleries in Europe, let alone those in major cities. Australian Aboriginal art is pretty repetitive and derivative, especially if you don 't comprehend the hidden language of dots and dashes. Don't expect a lot of great art as there are only a few pieces by world renowned artists and they are not their best works. However, it's free and worth a visit if it's raining.
