Walked round the middle lake and cycled the other two lakes. Shared footpath can be interesting. Hoards at Floriade made progress difficult at times.

There are many points to enjoy Lake Burley Griffin from. It’s an excellent area to walk around with the ever changing vistas. It’s particularly pretty in September when the pear blossoms are out.
My only wish is that there be more cafes and places to have refreshments along the way.

Walked thru the Lake via a bridge from Ovolo Nishi and the views are great. The over hanging cherry blossoms, a gift from the visiting Japanese envoy, lined up the sides of the lake bank and made it a very relaxing walk. The museums are situated over the bridge side and you can easily pop from the National Libraray to Questacon to the Parliament House.

Frequently taking out of town friends around Canberra, I find two of the better spots to view Lake Burley Griffin are Snapper Fish & Chips under the Southern Cross Yacht Club in Mariner Place off Alexander Drive OR from the Cafe at the National Capital Exhibition Centre opposite the Captain Cook water spout in Barrine Drive off Commonwealth Avenue. The food, coffee and drinks at both are excellent and the views worth the visit.

Lake Burley Griffin is a gem hidden in plane sight. Its panoramic vistas twinkle and change with the weather. In spring and autumn the colors of flowering trees and then their burning bright leaves ready to fall are spectacular.
