Great flat running/walking/bike path......be prepared though if you're wanting to go early morning or later in the afternoon..as peak times for runners/cyclists out on their daily routine,

“oasis in Canberra”
Reviewed November 11, 2013

When you need a bit of relax time in Canberra, Lake Burley Griffin is the place to go! There are paved paths to leisurely walk or ride a bike or roller-blade and lots of grass and benches to just rest. In the afternoon the fountain in the middle of the lake sends a water spout into the sky and the music from the nearby carillon provides an enjoyable bit of time to unwind. If you have the time a lake cruise would be very informative. As it is centrally located there are many other tourist attractions and national landmarks within a short distance.

“An Easy Walk - Plenty to See”
Reviewed November 2, 2013

A walk arund Lake Burley Griffin is a favourite for people of all ages as it is flat and paved all the way. Walkers share the pathways with cyclists, roller-bladers, segway riders and prams - an eclectic mix. On a clear day, it is stunning and many of the nation's landmark buildings can be seen along the way. After the walk, head to the cafe in the National Library for a coffee.

“Artificial lake which is a Canberra focal point- worth a visit as part of a day trip”
Reviewed October 31, 2013

Lake Burley Griffin is an artificial lake which was completed in 1963, and named after the architect responsible for the initial layout of Canberra.

When you look at a map, you will find that many of Canberra's tourist attractions are in the vicinity of the lake. I suggest that you include spending some time by the lake as part of your visit- maybe even take in a cruise on the lake.

There are pleasant parks and walking trails by the lake, which make it readily accessible.

It really is a Canberra focal point.

“nice to walk/bike”
Reviewed October 23, 2013

the lake is very big and is surrounded by walking paths and parks.

You can enjoy it to have a pic nic, or go for a walk, a run, or bike.. There are fountains all around too so you shouldn't worry about water!
