Have stayed at many Novotels and this one does not disappoint. Reception was efficient and friendly. Parking was via valet which did give some value for the $18/night parking fee. The room was clean and well maintained. View from second floor is of the roof of the floor below...not that appealing. The phone in the room beeped for some reason throughout the night, so once we worked out where the sound came from, I muffled it under a towel and problem solved. Pool and spa beautiful but unfortunately was full of kids for most of our stay, not that this was unexpected. We travel and stay with our own kids at Novotels for the reason they are very kid friendly. Happy hour was relaxing at the bar but the restaurant menu was limited in choice and as such we dined elsewhere. All in all a really pleasant stay.Would definately stay again.

The location of the Novotel is its best selling point as it is amidst the Civic Centre shopping and business area so it is a great choice for business travellers. That said, it has all the ambience and charm of a mid-town office block; it is functional without being luxourious. We found the customer service staff to be very good and the room service for an in room meal was decent value. That said we were unimpressed with the restaurant offering and ate elsewhere. The Buffet Breakfast in the 'One' Restaurant featured all the usual hot and cold elements with the added value of being able to order an omelette or have your eggs cooked just the way you want them. Be aware however that if you are there on a busy weekend, you will have quite a wait to be seated and it is quite a bustling affair. Our room was small but clean with windows which could not be opened and air conditioning that vacilated between too cold or too warm. Our major disappointments with the Novotel were that despite a 3 day stay our room was not serviced throughout that time - not so much as a clean towel. When we raised this with the front desk staff we were told that we must have had a 'Do Not Disturb' sign on our door which we did not at any point during our stay. The car parking is also a joke. For $18 a night, your car is 'valet' parked beneath the hotel however when arriving back late on a Saturday night there were no attendants however the cupboard containing the keys to all the cars was open and accessible to anyone walking down the unsecured driveway. As such, we were reluctant to leave our keys and we were unsurprised the following morning to witness one hotel patron arguing with a valet about the fact that the car parking staff had 'misplaced' his vehicle. We also found that the pool/spa area were not regularly serviced with patrons wet towels left behind throughout the day and evening. Whilst it is arguable that this is responsibility of pool-goers, the fact that we did not see any member of the Novotel staff frequent the pool/rec area gave us the impression that keeping the facilities clean and in good order was overlooked. The Novotel is not a bad place, it is just that there are better value places around which offer a nicer experience if you're staying for holiday or weekend away.

Room Tip: Higher the better and opt for a non-standard room as the standard rooms are on the small side

Excellent service from start to finish. Staff very helpful. Room clean and loved the comfy bed .The good nights sleep wascomplimented with a wonderful buffet breakfast. My only regret was not staying longer as we didn't get time to enjoy the pool spa and gym.

We have stayed at the Novotel numerous times over the past four years, and it is always a mix of good and bad. It's in a great position, and the rooms are okay. The parking is a mess, and the restaurant is totally hit and miss, the crackers with the cheese were stale and we had to send our daughter's pasta back as it was totally dry. Breakfast is also a mess, plates are never cleared, the buffet takes ages to be replenished.

We also have an issue with the alarm system of the hotel, every time we have stayed here, the fire alarms have gone off, our children get distressed every time this happens. We realise that viligance is crucial with fire in hotels, but every single time it has been a false alarm. We have stayed at numerous hotels around the world, and never has this happened with such frequency. The staff range from the attentive to the totally disinterested.

I am an Accor Platinum member, and not once was my status acknowledged. I stay in a lot of Accor hotels, and would like some recognition of the business I put their way. To be fair, it's not a Sofitel or a Pullman, but it should be a lot better than it is.

We've been very happy with our stay at the Novotel in Canberra. Our room was a good size and well fitted out. The staff have been very professional, and breakfasts have been very good, with lots of variety & choice. Location couldn't be better - it's very central & really close to Canberra Centre, which has plenty of places to eat out at night. Value for money has been excellent - we booked a few months in advance for a rate of $140 per night, breakfast included.

This hotel was in a great central location right beside a bus station so if you were coming to Canberra by bus this would be the place to stay if you had a lot of luggage with you. There is also many various eating places close by if you did not want to eat at the hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful when my lights went out one night and when the lights would not reset, they offered to help me move to another room but I was ready to go to bed at the time so asked for a torch instead which they supplied and the next day the lights were fixed by their Engineer. The room was also very quiet and even though it fronted the main avenue, I rarely heard any traffic noise or noise coming from the lifts which were opposite my door. I would certainly stay there again.
